The only reason this Woodman's location is getting any stars from me is because of the two excellent employees that were working around the store during my visit as an Instacart shopper. They both went above and beyond - one was less than knowledgeable, not afraid to admit it, and still helped me tremendously with a smile and the other, who seemed to be a manager, appeared to truly be happy with his job, knew the store inside and out, and had an infectious good attitude! Major kudos to those two gentlemen, but why were there only two around the store during my overly frustrating 2.5 hour visit?
I frequent two other Woodman's locations, Janesville, WI and Volo, IL quite often and while I don't particularly like the Janesville location, they both have something that the Beloit location lacked: preparedness! I always shop Woodman's and I also get quite a few Instacart orders for Woodman's as well. This was my 1st time being sent to the Beloit location and I was disgusted by fruit flies. I was shopping for 2 customers, it should have taken me a little over an hour, but it took me nearly 2 and a half hours because I was constantly having to ask both customers if they'd prefer a substitution or refund, especially when I was picking onions and it was obvious why the bagged yellow onions had a mass of fruit flies buzzing around. This location was out of so many items and their own app had items listed in the wrong areas (I triple checked that I had the correct location selected in the Woodman's app, a great app to have if you're going to work with Instacart!). It was a far cry from what I've come to expect from Woodman's, even the night before a holiday. The other locations know to order extra in time to have it on hand and I even saw it with my own eyes having gone to the Janesville Woodman's an hour earlier for my own personal shopping. Volo set the bar high, I guess. They have store maps at the end of every aisle, I've only ever once not been able to get something from my personal shopping list there, I've never not been able to get items last minute for a holiday (great experiences right before Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's when I was shopping for myself and another family member), and an ultra clean store. It was shocking that the store I stepped into in Beloit had a "Woodman's"...
Read moreMy partner went to woodmans last night with our daughter. She spent an hour there shopping and came back with nothing because of the way one employee and the supervisor treated her. She won't say anything because she has severe anxiety and PTSD but I will. She was in the self checkout and she said the woman working there was almost right behind her and it made her feel uncomfortable so she asked her if she could take 2 steps back or 2 steps to the side so she could be more at ease scanning her items and the lady just laughed it off so my partner decided to go to a register with a cashier who was actually checking people out so she wouldn't get accused of theft. While she was getting checked out, the woman called the supervisor and they both stared at her while she was paying for her stuff. On her way out, they continued to look at her till it seemed like she was about to leave the store but she decided to speak to the supervisor who had started walking away the second she headed to the exit. The supervisor Garret was extremely rude to her. The supervisor & the woman were pretty much ganging up on her and treating her like a criminal. She returned all her groceries after Garret told her, "you can leave now" as if he was her boss and walked away from her before she could finish speaking. Honestly, if you're going to make people uncomfortable because YOU think they're stealing then maybe you shouldn't have self checkouts especially if 2 of your white employees are just going to stare at a customer who is a poc with a toddler in tow. My partner has never stolen anything in her life and she's never felt so discriminated upon before. If you suffer from PTSD or anxiety do not go to this store bc they will profile you, they will make you feel like a criminal, and they will dismiss your concerns if they...
Read moreWoodmans is one of my favorite stores to shop at. While other stores offer produce they claim is fresh, it doesn't hold a candle to what woodmans has to offer. Woodmans also offers reduced produce, both organic and otherwise.
On top of the reduced produce woodmans also offers reduced general goods: which can range from slightly damaged cans of soda to mostly intact bags of pet food and can be found in the front area on the right side of the store near the pet supplies. Reduced beer and alcohol can be found in the liquor department at random times.
If you make your way over to the deli area youll find a small chest cooler that says reduced meat on it, it can be hit or miss if there will be anything there but it is common to find packages of excellent end or miscut deli meat. From there head over to the to the second row of center staged coolers across from cheese section and you can find the reduced cold/dairy section, its a great place to find awesome prices on yogurt and milk.
If you then head around the side walls of the frozen section towards the first row of frozen coolers you'll then find the reduced frozen section which can be great for...
