I am a current resident. Although the apartments are spacious and decent, the amenities and staff are good; it appalls me the cost for rent here; not to mention, it goes up every time your lease is up. I was in the military and have lived and rented places all over the country. But I have NEVER lived at a apartment complex where they have raised the rent 3 times in less than two years. Most places I have rented, whether it was a house or apartment complex, lower rent. Not this place. The property manager claims that they raise the rent according to the market; however, they must be comparing based on the entire Detroit metropolitan area because this is the most expensive apartment complex in the Downriver area; especially given the location. Another issue to consider, rent does not include any utilities and you would have to pay $40.09 on top of rent to pay for water (and $20 if you want a reserved covered parking spot, worth considering since most people do not have covered parking and there are not many open spots left). They refuse to work with you and you have to give them a 45 day notice before you leave, which screws with the timeframe to work with other apartment complexes/renters. Bottom line, the apartments are nice considering the costs. But there are better areas you can live at given the cost of rent and people more willing to be...
Read moreYou can hear through the walls easily, everyone slams their doors, and if you have neighbors with noisy pets, nothing will be done because it's allegedly normal noise. Even if it's a dog howling all day into the night. Save your money and move somewhere else because this place was noisier than Village Green of Southgate. Maybe you'll get lucky with some quiet neighbors but I wouldn't bet on that for this price.
UPDATE: apartment was inspected today and was left completely unlocked. I didn't get home until 2 a.m., which is a testament to how quiet South Rockwood is but not a good showing for this place.
Also, the only resolution provided was moving to another apartment within the facility. The lease is very clear about what has to be done with excessively loud animals, no matter what time they're howling. Village Green of Southgate made me get rid of a dog that barked a lot during the day, and although this is a different complex, it's the same company. So good luck to anyone that gets this apartment. If you're ever home during the day for whatever reason, expect for it to sound like you're...
Read moreWe have lived in Village Place for 3 months coming from up north in Traverse City. We have been very pleased with our transition, working with Jeff in the office to make our move to VP as smoothly as possible. The office staff has been very polite and helpful. In a couple of issues with maintenance the response has been very timely either the same day or making an immediate phone call to schedule an appointment. The only reason I did not rate 5 stars is the fact that my wife is in a wheelchair and there is not nearly enough “curb cutouts” for those in wheelchairs, or using walkers, or canes. There are plenty of handicapped parking spots but in many cases getting from the parking spot to the sidewalk is difficult if not impossible. My wife and I like to take walks with our dog, and me pushing her in the wheelchair. In order to make a safe walk it is impossible without having to walk on the main road or to dangerously have to back the wheelchair over a large curb to navigate due to a great lack of curb cutouts. It is obvious no reasonable thought was considered when the sidewalk patterns were...
