Madani's Market (The Olive Bazaar) — Local services in Berlin

The cashier was nice and helpful. However, this place is getting one star for two critical issues: 1- After going home, we found out that 4 items (3 items from one product and 1 item from another product) are beyond their shelf life. Not one week beyond their expiration date, not one month beyond their expiration date, but ONE YEAR! Two different products which suggests this is a common practice and not a mistake. One product's expiration date is January 2020. The other's is March 2020. Pictures are attached.

2- People are not wearing masks. I don't care whether they are customers, employees or someone who is dropping off merchandise. The owner/the manager is responsible of upholding masks mandate. To be honest, I am pretty sure that at least one employee was not wearing a mask. He was showing another guy where to drop off some merchandise which suggests he is an employee since he knows where...

Very well stocked Asian Middle East market. Fresh foods are not so great, selection, freshness, not good. But cans and bagged foods are awesome, and many items 5 not to be found in Big Y, StopnShop. Especially spices, beans, coffees, teas, and flavors. Frozen foods are great too, Turkish simit, falafel. They have a butcher, fresh meats, cut as you like. And dairy, lebneh, yogurts.

Prices are not surprising for items you can't find elsewhere.

Friendly folks help you out. It's not very crowded on weekdays. You have the place to yourself.

Cashier is rude and looks like she is forced to be there... Some employees are ok and others very rude. I didn’t understand what one of the butchers said because of the loud noises etc and kindly asked to repeat and he was rude about it and gave me attitude. I thought they were just having a bad day and went there few more times but it’s always the same thing. And covid note: they don’t even wear their masks or they would have it on their chin when they do “wear” it This place is right next to my house but I’d rather drive to new Britain and go to the other halal butcher because they’re too...
