I really do not know where to begin. As a business owner myself, I hate to give a negative review, but it has been far too long.... I can not believe, being a Bernards Twp. resident for 30+ years, that this place actually exists in my beautiful town. They put the nice places in Gilette and Bridgewater, and we get stuck with this turd. The employees: Let's just say they may be trying hard given their limited resources, but that is by far not enough. Unfriendly, gruff and incompetent. Especially in the deli section, where they may make you wait 5 minutes with no one else waiting for deli while they spray the area with toxic products or chat on their cell phones. When I enter the door I always envision that I am in a Felini film. The variety of interesting, Felini-esque employees; the disgusting, inoperable carts and baskets that look like they have not been cleaned since 1950. The produce, I assume, is what King's or Wegman's discards on a daily basis. Gotta check those expiration dates as much of what they sell is already expired. Do not EVER buy the pre-cut deli if you are trying to avoid the gruff deli people-it is usually forward-dated so it is bad by the time you get home. Lastly, what would this surreal shopping experience be without the inept check-out? Mis-read and mis-weighed produce; wrong charges, you name it. They go the full...
Read moreSome of the worst customer service staff I've met in any business and the Berkeley Heights store is no better! It's almost like they're trained to be rude, unhelpful, accusatory, and unknowledgeable. Their only competition is the somewhat-near Shoprite and they tend to raise their prices within a week of said price-gouging Shoprite to within 50 cents. Wegmans, and I'm not kidding, in Bridgewater is now cheaper than these two local stores.
Steve, the Front End Store Manager, is an extra-special level of unfriendly, rude, and unhelpful.
Additionally, several products I've purchased here have gone bad quickly or were "off" or "sour" upon opening. There is no way they're properly handling their goods and based upon how they treat their shoppers, how could you expect them to properly care for the food they sell us? I've never run into issues with these same brands from competing grocery retailers.
Thanks Stop and Shop! In addition to Shoprite becoming extremely greedy during the pandemic, you've finally mobilized me to shop from...
Read moreI have been a regular customer since your store opened. It is convenient and has always had a very decent selection. Unfortunately I will not be returning to your store. This is due to the fact that one of your employees has made it extremely uncomfortable for my family and me. While I understand what extenuating circumstances we are in these days and are trying to be safe, an employee ( a heavyset women) seems to taking this to the extreme. She seems to be scrutinizing my family and me whenever I walk in and can't wait to pounce on us and call us out. I understand safety first, be when we were literally the only 2 people in the store on memorial day and she screamed 'only 1 per household ', that was the last straw. I'm sure she knows we were regulars. This was unnecessary and I took it as a personal attack. Very rude!! ( for the most part we were shopping with 1 person at least 4 times a week. and i have seen cases with 2 family members where she said...
