Fenwick Float-ors — Local services in Bethany Beach

My daughter and I shopped in store today. I have been going for years, but likely will not go back. They clearly have had shoplifting issues based on the security alarms that are now at every entrance, and that stinks for them. But we were just holding an item we were interested in purchasing and the door alarm kept going off (we were at least 5 feet away mind you). The woman behind the counter very rudely “offered” to hold it for us at the counter and her tone made it sound like she was suspicious of us. It was odd. I declined and put the item back. We then went upstairs where the Lilly and Barefoot section was. I felt like the employee up there was hovering and watching us. It was uncomfortable to say the least. I then took the item that I was going to purchase to the upstairs counter where the employee was standing and was informed that I needed to go back downstairs to pay…and he could carry my items for me. When I declined, he followed me downstairs and hovered until he saw us pay. We walked to the other building where we were completely ignored, not even a hello when we walked inside. It was nothing like it used to be. We used to have so much fun shopping at Float-oars but I’m afraid I will not be back. There really isn’t anything there that I can’t find at another small...

I have shopped at Floaters since they first opened in 1994. I have bought lots of things over the years for my home, gifts, clothes, etc. There have been a lot of changes over the years - I always enjoyed a shopping trip there. A great store to take visiting friends. I placed an online order on May 13th - it was delivered on May 17th. I chose to return the items - they had the wrong receipt in my package so I thought I would return in person on my next trip to the beach. I went today, June 19th. I was told I could not return or get a store credit because 30 days had passed. I got it on the 17th so we are talking 2 days. My items were in perfect condition- still wrapped in the tissue paper they arrived in. I explained that I returned in person because The invoice in the box was not the correct one. He told me I could of gone online and found the correct one. Very disappointed…. I love the store but I will never shop...

We had been coming here for years and years often times with our family and friends. Up until the past few years it had been mostly pleasant to visit. We have purchased many great things here. Well, that all changed drastically over the past several years. The owner could not be any more unpleasant or ungrateful. They have decided for some reason to not offer any kind of public restroom accommodations and the owner couldn't care less of any major inconvenience it creates. In fact, I was told "dude, do what most other people do and use a gas station down the road". It is hits attitude that this post is all about. Buyer beware and please reconsider stopping here. They do not care about their customers. BTW. a great alternative shopping location is right down the road. They are called Seaside Country Store.
