I decided to switch to a cat specialized vet with a new adoption after losing my last cat whose suffering was unnecessarily prolonged by negligence of her previous vet.
Pros- Nice person at check in Vet has a long time of experience Vet explained things after normal check up and told me how to best take care of my new little guy The exam itself was fast and seemed thorough. He even smelled his breath which I appreciated as most vets don't. I have no experience coming there with a problem so can't speak to that, but would anticipate a struggle, see below
Cons- It is a two person operation which I did not realize. They are open 3 days a week. But, they have no voicemail and no call waiting. They never called me with my cat's fecal results and every time I called I either got a recording telling me to call back before hanging up or a busy signal. Dealing with this lack of staffing and infrastructure would have made a sick cat ordeal that much harder and I imagine it makes getting testing and procedures more complicated.
The vet was fast but too rough with my cat. I'm a socially awkward person myself so I'm fine with how he just walked into the room and pulled him out, but he also didn't even ask me if there were any problems etc. Having done rescue and had fearful animals much of my life, I know a firm hand can often be better than going too slow. But, my cat was scared and trying to get away and he was being rough, getting frustrated, jerking him around, and eventually after less than a minute practically yelled at him "STOP IT. YOU'RE FINE," which of course still didn't help. He then said I might need to give him something to calm down before next time. My dude, you're scaring him more and now he has a new memory to be afraid of.
How would you like to be taken somewhere strange in a box by someone you met days before then pulled out by a stranger who started grabbing you all over and sticking their hands in your mouth? I'd try to get away, too, I think we humans forget what it must be like to be a cat. Also this cat let me cut his nails the second day because I gained his trust and helped him feel comfortable. I wouldn't call him a fearful cat, just normal.
I've decided to check out other vets closer (Google initially lied and told me this place was half the distance but that's not BPCC's fault.) I need a place that has more staff and better infrastructure and vets who will be more...
Read moreThe only good thing I could say about this that is that my checkup was inexpensive. But in saying that, this was the Worst vet I've ever been to. I originally brought my two cats there because they did need a check-up but the one cat was particularly ill. He was peeing everywhere and it didn't seem right. I had mentioned when I made this appointment that I also wanted to get him tested. So I show up and they tell me that they can only do the check up, and that I have to bring him in on a certain day so that they can sedate him. The only two days that they could see him where daylight hours, and I work a day job. I called around and no other vets thought he would need sedagese for a simple urine exam. As I tried to schedule an appointment because I was trying to avoid going to a new vet, I was put on the phone with the vet and he was extremely rude to me when I was asking questions. Then when I got the price I was astounded, $500. That was not including any of the medicines that I would have been given for my cat. That was to sedate him and do all kinds of tests that weren't needed. So I took him to a new vet today, and mind you the Cat Clinic never faxed over the records to my vet as asked. They did a new check up, urine sample, and got him on medication and a new food right away. For under $200. If you want to be talked down to and then gouged, this is the...
Read moreI've brought my cat Winston and Samson several times and have been so pleased with the level of service, warmth, and expertise. Cathy is ALWAYS very personal and visits with Winston when he arrived (he's always on a harness on top of the carrier holding my other boy, Sam). She is consistently warm and engaging (which truly set the Cat Clinic apart from other places). They listen. Dr. Nahal definitely shows his years of experience, which is exactly what you want when it comes to your adored fuzzy family member(s). He is very thorough and asks questions as he examines our pals. When I moved to the area I had trialed two different veterinarians and although I saw that the other pet clinic was good, it just didn't compare to the Cat Clinic. Dr. Nahal is more thorough and I trust that I'm not getting upsold services unnecessarily. I understand and am willing to get my cats any service needed, but found the other vet (NOT the Cat Clinic) to really wrack up a huge list of additional costs and fees when I left. I am willing to pay for needs, ways to optimize health, and good services, but strongly value being able to trust that my vet is engaging in decisions best for the animal first. Transparency is nice to valuable. There is a lot of care from both the Dr and the Cathy who assists the Dr and runs the office (she is incredibly pleasant!) I'm very happy....
