A very professional operation run by some good people. I would not go anywhere else for my power equipment needs.UPDATE: 2022 I reiterate that the staff and management are good and honest people. However not every product I have purchased there has been satisfactory. Four year ago I decided to purchase a new snow thrower rather than repair my old Troybilt which had given me years of reliable use. The only choice available at Bethel Power was Honda or Simplicity. As I use all my equipment extremely lightly I did not wish to invest the steep price for the Honda so I purchased the Simplicity 950.....I have used it a total of less than 12 hours and it has never performed well. When we had the first snow of the year I attempted to use it and it did not blow any snow. Subsequently Bethel Power said it needed a new belt and repaired it (the one year warranty had long passed.) Today we had a light fluffy snow... I used it for 25 minutes until it stopped throwing snow again. Last year the Echo hedge trimmer I bought at BP stopped working. It had always been difficult to start unlike the Stihl gas blower ...which has never been a problem. Suffice it to say I would never recommend Echo or Simplicity. I now have an EGO battery hedge trimmer...much better in every way.do .UPDATE: Bethel Power says they will fix at no cost. This is why I will continue to patronize They care about...
Read moreI have to say that I was hit with sticker shock when I was charged $205 for replacing and mounting my snowblower tires. Prior to dropping off the old tires I inquired the approximate cost and was told probably around $160. I understand BPE has to make a profit, and I’m pretty sure they made a tidy profit on the tires, I’m more incensed to be charged a labor rate of $110/hr for mounting the tires on the 8” rims. The cherry on top was the “hazardous waste” charge of $6 for tire disposal. That just seems like nickel and diming their customers. I know Connecticut requires recycling of tires as “special waste”, but we’re not talking four automobile tires here; and the cynic in me thinks…
Finally, when I arrived at BPE to pick up my tires, there was an employee at the front counter talking on the phone. He interrupted his conversation a moment to inform me that someone would be with me soon. He then went back to his conversation. Now, I’m certainly not an expert in operating a power equipment business, but it seemed clear that this was a personal conversation. After several minutes another customer arrived and the employee continued on the phone. A minute or two later a second employee came to help us. I’ve been around the block a few times and I know what good customer service looks like....
Read moreI have been waiting my lawn mower to be delivered. The machine has been fixed for a week now and no one called me to let me know. I paid for the repair, but I have been in the dark on when the delivery will be done. Their telephone system has been down for days now and it is impossible to contact them. The only option is to drive there - 15 minutes away! They acknowledged their phone is been broken but they don’t seem to care or feel the urgency to fix it rapidly. I ask the guy behind the counter ... is your cell phone works? Yes... was the answer but this is a personal phone. So I guess a free local phone call to inform the customer on the status of his delivery is not an option. Very frustrating! Their customer service needs to...
