My wife, 5month old daughter, and I attempted to stay at the Moondance cabin but there was no power once we arrived. The host told us to use the fire and flashlights. Neither option was viable to help my wife use her breast pump or our bottle warmer to heat up milk for our baby. Oh by the way, the host refused to refund our money. PROTIP: invest in a generator so your guests aren't forced to be comfortable according to your standards.
UPDATE (after reading the host's message): wow, lies...! All i want to clarify is the following, we never hung up OR blamed her for anything as we are not rude people (our parents raised us better than that), but cell service during the outage was very spotty, she never offered to personally help or send a generator or we likely would have stayed! Yes, we actually will sue if you do not refund our money. Additionally it's interesting that there are six (6) new 5-star reviews within the last 6hours...that brought your rating up from 3.9 to 4.6...funny. See attached screenshots for more insight and judge for yourselves.
Update#2 (after seeing my wife's review keeps getting removed somehow):
After a long car drive with our five month old baby, we arrived at nighttime to a cabin (Moondance) with no electricity. My 5 month old baby and I sat in our car in pitch darkness for over 30 minutes while my husband scrambled to figure out what was going on.
I needed to change my baby’s diaper. My baby needed a place to lie down after being in her car seat for hours. And as a breastfeeding mother I needed access to an outlet so I could pump.
Upon hearing about the situation, Sarah recommended we use flashlights. I suppose she thought she was being helpful or gracious with her suggestion as if that was a real solution to our problem. Maybe that would have worked if it was just my husband and I, but we have a baby and we weren’t going to stumble around in the dark using flashlights in a cabin we had never been to.
Eventually we learned there was a power outage in Big Bear. We explained to Sarah that we weren’t going to wait around any longer than we already had in the hopes that the electricity might be restored and respectfully asked for a refund. She refused to return the nearly $500 we paid for a one-night stay. No sympathy for our situation or integrity to do the right thing. Sometimes things happen in life that is not the fault of either party and the respectable thing to do is the right thing. And the right thing here would have been to return our money for the cabin we were unable to use due to the circumstances.
Sarah told us power outages are common in Big Bear. Well, as a breastfeeding mother of an infant that would have been useful to know before booking the cabin. Maybe include that in your post. I am disappointed by the lack of integrity and professionalism here. As a mother , I’m even more irked by the fact that she expected us to wait around with our infant for an indeterminate time in the hopes that the electricity would be restored soon. Well that wasn’t what we signed up for. Making a buck at the plight of others is not a good look. Do better.
UPDATE: Anyone reading Sarah’s response should know she’s a big liar. My husband will post the text exchange so you can see for yourself :) I would never support a business who treats others this way. Your cabin is not “lovely” if it has no electricity and is prone to power outages. No one wants to stay at a “lovely” cabin with no power. There was no guarantee when the power would come on and there was no guarantee it wouldn’t happen again during our stay. Sarah’s attempt to downplay the situation is downright rude seeing as we waited around for nearly an hour in pitch darkness with our 5 month old. Would you pay nearly $500 for that kind...

Read moreIt was couple months ago, 4 of us, my husband and I and my 2 kids stayed with Midnight moon cabins. I won’t say it was a totally awful experience but some of them were really lower than our expectations. Their website pictures were attractive enough, but when we got there we found something were very different from our imagination. Bed sheets were very cheap, very uncomfortable, it was my nightmare sleeping on them. Compared the night rate they charged, more than $550/night, they should at least offer something more comfortable, it won’t cost too much, at least enough for making their guests having a quality rest! Bathroom is on first floor, stairs between first and second floors is very narrow, even with enough light, it was still not too safe to walk on it during night time, especially when you having a little one (mine was 4) . Bathroom water tank( might set on roof) was broken I guess, because when you taking shower, a lot water flowing from ceiling, there was not enough hot water at all after my older son’s shower. We had to finish it almost in cold water. Bathroom was extremely cold, where seems the heater could not reached out. Other than these, entire cabin was clean, was as described as their website. Kitchen was a sparkling high light, it filled all we needs while we stayed, even beyond than that . But I guess we won’t come back again if nothing updates, due to the poor quality and the 2 nights sleeping experience. Hopefully they could do something if they still charge this much for...
