Had an amazing experience at big bear boards!! My boyfriend and I rented snowboards here for 2 days. The staff was very well educated on the different types of snowboards. The employees took the time to explain the differences between the snowboard rental packages. We decided to rent the sport snowboard package. The gear was in phenomenal shape! Brand new snowboards (fresh out the box literally) and boots! I also got to rent a nice warm rental jacket and pants. Which the staff informed me that they wash after every use! (cleansing this on point) We got gear up from head to toe. When we we’re returning our gear back it was simple easy and smooth. Since the return process was so fast we had some extra time to browse around upstairs in their newly remodeled retail section. I must say Big Bear Boards is the most original and unique board shop in big bear. They support many local companies in their shop. It’s not just all snowboards too. They had jewelry from a company called third eye co. Which they mine all of their stones and make their own jewelry out of it. I was lucky to get an early Christmas present, witch I am obsessed with my new ring. If you are taking a vacation to big bear and looking for a place to rent I would highly suggest the smiling faces at Big Bear Boards.    Read moreRented some boots for the weekend and at checkout accidentally clicked the 25% tip instead of no tip. I told the lady at the cash register and she assured me I wouldn’t be charged for the tip even though I had accidentally chose the tip option. The total was $42 and some change, she handed me the receipt WITH THE TIP included on it. Why would you lie and say I won’t get charged the tip, just to hand me the receipt with the tip on it. I asked for a refund on the order and if she could just recharge me for the rental. She hesitated to give me my refund for whatever reason but, but did so anyway (or at least I thought). I check my bank today to see that she refunded my total for the boots but KEPT THE TIP. What kind of scam is that? Y’all that desperate for a tip? I called the store today just for the guy on the phone to give me hella attitude about making my mistake and only offered a “sorry YOU made a mistake”. Refused to refund me the tip because he “would get charged a processing fee”. Wow a processing fee of AT MOST 3% for $11. YOU GUYS ARE PACKED ALL WEEKEND EVERY WEEKND.    Read moreBought a pair of Burton snowboard Step-On bindings online, disliked the color, and went to the store to return them. I was told that all sales are final. There is literally no sign on the website saying sales are final if you follow the steps to place the order. I said I would like to pay for the shipping because I don't want the store to lose money. The staff called the owner, and the owner still refused to refund even though the bindings were brand new in the box and hadn't even been tried on.
One stars for the nice and patient staff. Minus four stars for not clearly listing the non-return policy. The owner was just downstairs when the staff was paraphrasing his words to me. I believe people would like to support their local stores and small businesses, but I didn't feel the owner appreciated the business from me. He didn't even want to talk to his customer.
