I’ve been to 3b a few times and the first two times I got really good cuts of meat from the show case out front. This week I ordered the number 1 bundle and subbed a couple things. One of the substitutions I chose was tri tip. I’ve purchased tri tip from other places and it’s never had a fat cap. Both the pieces I got had a pretty good amount of fat on the outside. A couple sirloins I received with this bundle also had a thick strip of fat on the edge. Like the tri tip, any sirloin I’ve gotten hasn’t had fat on it because they’re supposed to be lean cuts of meat. The sirloins I purchased from the show case previously, had no fat. Whoever I spoke with on the phone wasn’t having it with me and told me that most customers smoke the tri tips and want the fat cap…why not ask me how I like it?..I paid over $300 for meat that isn’t up to that price standard. Again, the first couple of times I got meat, I was very pleased. This bundle, however, isn’t great. I like 3be meats and I think they have good quality because I’ve gotten excellent cuts from them, but the way the man I spoke to on the phone handled the situation left me feeling stupid for calling about it even though I’m not happy with the quality of a few pieces. It’s an easy fix but to him, there wasn’t anything that...
Read moreI dropped an quartered elk at 3Be meats on my trip back from Idaho to Minnesota. The following week I had some friends from Bismarck bring the processed elk to me in MN. I had a total of 6 lbs of backstraps and tenderloins from an elk (typically over 35 lbs). I assumed a simple mistake had been made, and simply forgot a few boxes. I called and was told I would get a phone call back in a day. I had to call a week later, I was told that the backstraps were "chopped up" and they were in poor shape. 3Be and myself know this is a flat out lie, so much for taking accountability for your mistakes. Either 3Be stole the meat, or more likely, they have such little knowledge of what a backstrap looks like and ground it into hamburger then tried to lie to me. I have broken down many elk, the tenderloins and backstraps were in 4 pieces of meat and in a completely separate game bag. 3Be flat out lied to me and did not do anything to attempt to fix the problem. Photo is of the estimated 15lb backstrap immediately before going into a game bag and dropped off at 3Be meats less than 24...
Read moreI made it there just before closing time. I was looking for a certain type of bones to make a Romanian dish and of course they didn't had what I was looking for. I knew that but I was hoping maybe I get lucky. Usually people tells you we don't carry this and that's it. Considering they were trying to close and didn't had what I was looking for the friendliness and the willingness to listen and help me out was quite the surprise. They didn't had what I was looking for for they found something else in the back and when I offered to come back the next day to buy it they said no. The father and son tried to open a frozen box of pig ears so I can go home happy. Tough job but I end up leaving with 15 pig ears. Piftie or racituri is what I am trying to make and I need to thank them for their service....
