I used to work for Meijers definitely worst company to work for. Even the union said it is one of the worst places to work at and the higher ups don’t even know what’s in the contract when I asked to see it they said no. Then when I got the flu and sent them the doctors note, they fired me and said they never got the doctors note. Even though I sent them a notice saying that I was quitting, but they wanted the satisfaction of telling people that I was fired, even though I have the proof. They would always pull me into meetings and I would get mad over the fact that I would speak to my other coworkers, which was a part of my job position. But yet they allowed one of the team leaders Ben would always come in drunk literally smelled of alcohol 24/7 and would let him operate the hilow and also the guy almost hit me with the Hilow when he was drunk and he was aware of me being right there they really do not care about their employees at all. They know he was drunk while working. In any time, I would ask Ben For an item for an item that was not on the shelf he would conveniently run away from me and go on break. He was afraid of me for no reason. Never again will I ever work for that company. They don’t pay any of the employees enough to deal with their BS. I am in a way better job now with a amazing company getting paid way more than meijers would ever offer anyone. Also, management was absolutely terrible there. They truly do not see you as a employee. They see you as nothing. This location needs to be shut down. I wasn’t even going to take the job at first because of what people were telling me about it. I should’ve listened and never took the job. They always constantly have people quitting and the new hires end up quitting too. Any time I have called off and have them put it in the books and make sure of it. They will tell me it was never in the put down which was a lie and they told me they never got the call that I called off even though I have the proof in my call logs. The higher ups really hated me for whatever reason so of course they were trying anything to get rid of me had even gone to the point where they told me not to speak to my coworkers, which was a part of my job. The circle table meetings were all BS They don’t fix anything nor do they take complaints about other people seriously at all. Even the union said this location is the worst one to work at. Heather, one of the most terrible person that works there which she has been fired and rehired multiple times and has even gotten physical with a coworker or customer from what I was told said it doesn’t matter if you’re sick or in a hospital, they still expect you to come in. All they want is for everybody there to bow down to them and they’re mad because I wouldn’t. Things were getting very bad there. I was so tempted to start up a lawsuit against him with all the proof that I had and the way they would talk to you in meetings, which I have the voice recordings of is absolutely disgusting. When I tell you, I have proof on top of proof about this place I am not joking. You’re better off working somewhere else than here. They treat all of their employees absolutely terrible. The HR lady would not do anything about it nor with the manager I feel like the manager was afraid of confrontation. Honestly, he was supposed to be a part of the meetings they pulled me into, but he refused to join them. I’ve never had a problem with the manager at the time or at all. They also lack communication with all of their employees. The HR lady, which is Misty will co-sign anything Heather says no matter if it was wrong. The contract they make you sign is basically nonexistent and I also noticed they would get more resistant towards me when they found out I was going to investigate more on the contract they made everybody sign That’s when more problems started to come out And started pulling me into more meetings because they know I was going to look into that contract more before I quit. Absolutely worst place to work at...
Read moreNormally, I have a really pleasant experience at this store. That being said, I don't think I will be coming back here any time soon. I stopped in with two other people to pick up a few things around 1am this morning. As I was doing my shopping, I noticed some vacuum cleaners on an endcap that were marked for clearance at $39.99. Originally, they were priced at $79.99. I thought it was a good deal, so I decided to buy one (after double checking the item on the clearance tag, of course.) As I rang it in, it came up as $79.99. I assumed it was some sort of mistake, so I asked the nearest checkout employee for assistance. I explained the situation to him, and he called the manager in charge to ask what he should do. He then said he was going to find the display. He was gone for around 20 minutes, (it turns out, they had discreetly removed the clearance tags.) When he came back, he said that he couldn't give us the product for the price it was marked at, because it was incorrectly marked. He then stated he could sell the product to us for $65.00, but discounting it any further would require the manager. So I asked to speak to the manager. The manager in charge at the time was a person named Ben H. When he approached us, he asked "what seems to be the problem?". I started to explain it, and he abruptly cut me off, saying "oh, I've heard all about it. " Right from the start, his demeanor was incredibly rude and standoffish. Then he proceeded to tell us that the product itself wasn't marked for clearance, and that the shelf was. (Kinda flawed logic, considering the shelf itself was not up for sale, the objects on the shelf were on sale. Also, the vacuum matched the clearance tag) Then he told us that there were laws in place to protect Meijer from people "like us", implying that we were the ones trying to pull a fast one. Such blatant disrespect and dishonesty are not traits I look for in a store employee, much less a member of management. Instead of admitting that a member of his team made a mistake, he tried to cover it up and then imply that myself and two other people were trying to rip off the store. Moral of the story: ALWAYS take a picture of the clearance tag before...
Read moreThis store is clean and has excellent employees. Jamie, one of the cashiers on the self checkout area, is always a joy to have and is always friendly. But lately, there has been a lot of tension up at the front. While talking to an employee, who will remain unnamed, I was told that there is a constant level of stress among the employees because of the manager. When I looked by the service desk, I saw that the manager's name is Heather.
While I know it is unlikely anyone of consequence will see this, I took the time to talk to this employee. I found out through them that Heather has been making rules and punishments that have driven employees to being afraid of making even the smallest mistakes. Employees apparently are being watched by loss prevention more than actual shoplifters, and constantly feel unvalued. The employee told me that confidence in upper management in the store to fix the issues is non-existent, with virtually no employees feeling like telling upper management would help them.
In fact, I was even told that numerous employees have been searching for new jobs, with the treatment from their manager being a primary reason. When a customer is being told all of this, but management apparently is aware of every issue and does nothing, it tells me that the management team is either incompetent or perfectly fine with a manager treating employees like trash.
Every manager involved in letting this get so far should be ashamed. If someone responds to this, I want it to be with the contact information of the district and regional managers. I want to be able to file a complaint on behalf of your employees. Everything about this store is amazing, but the tension and fear I feel from the employees at the front because of the management team detracts from my experience. Do not claim to care about your employees if you can't be bothered to curb poor management under you. Your employees deserve so...
