I have mixed emotions about Fleet Farm, and it is almost everything I go here. Especially the Blaine location.
I went in looking for a spare tire for my trailer, which should be easy right? I get to the tire section and the kid stocking shelves says, "I don't know anything about tires, I'm just here." Welcome to the new age. At least they were pleasant and directed me to the service area. To whom helped me figure out what tire and rim I needed but sent me on my way to find someone in an orange shirt.
So off I go on the mighty hunt to find someone in an orange shirt to help me. The first person I see about 2 aisles past the tires quickly passes me off when approached by saying he doesn't work in that department but the team lead is standing in the back of the store. Why don't I go talk to him. So I lace up my boots for the long trek to the employee only area at the back of the store. Upon arrival I find a man leaning up against a pallet on a cell phone (based on the conversation they were deciding what was for dinner tonight) I waited patiently for 5 minutes. Yes 5 minutes, and yes they saw me standing there. Actually made I contact. Said employee finishes phone call but never looks up. 2 more minutes go by still one phone probably watching memes. As I am getting frustrated by the second another employee walks right past me. Had to actually walk around my cart to cross into the never never land of employee only territory. Said employee starts conversation with slug on the pallet. Still never acknowledge me.
I know I should have said something direct but I didn't.
Then comes the ONE orange shirt willing to do what they are there for. After a short minute of cussing at him I asked if I could speak to the person in charge of the store. I also told him it was because he didn't need to hear my rant it had nothing to do with him.
By know I am going on 20 to 30 minutes in the store still with no help. Enter black vest (managers must wear black)
He was uncertain what I was looking for but actually stuck around long enough to figure it out. Low and behold they had one that would work, just not on the shelf where a person could get it with out help from an employee.
I always find it interesting how service can be so bad in these retail chains and people just roll with it but if it were a ma and pa shop they would get crucified for the service.
I try to shop MA and pa if I can but I was in a hurry and figured fleet farm would have...
Read moreI agree with the below review as well. DO NOT GET YOUR TIRES HERE. My parents took in my car in November to get new tires and the mechanics were very rude to my dad. Then I noticed ever since that my "Service Tire Monitor" light would flash whenever I would drive. Never happened before ever. Figuring they broke something and didn't fix it, I brought my car back in myself and asked them to look. Mind you, this is after I sent 2 emails, called twice, and left a message before I finally connected with someone and set up an appointment. The mechanic working the desk was incredibly rude to me right away stating "when you're going down the highway the computer can't keep up", "I guess well hook it up to some things", and "my car does this too" in a very haughty tone. He is the older, shorter one with glasses. I immediately knew they weren't going to fix anything. After an hour or so they come out saying they didn't see anything on diagnostics and they want to test drive to see the light come on. Of course, they didn't drive far or fast, so it did not. They then xame and stated "the light isn't on, there's nothing we can do" and "when it's cold out sensors malfunction". I was definitely treated with a know it all demeanor which the males in the room did not receive. Keep in mind, it was not cold out this year around thanksgiving, and this is not a "check tire pressure" sensor. A few weeks later I brought it in to a shop I trust and the mechanic knew right away what was wrong. They stated that when fleet farm removed or replaced the old tires they could have broke the sensor if not tilted properly and removed or reattached. After a few days (there were other items to work on as well), the mechanic states that fleet farm did break 2 of those sensors, and that they should have replaced them as it is a $7 part. Of course, they probably knew this when I brought my car back, but didn't want to take my tires off, replace the part, and replace the tires. Instead, they decided to treat me like a woman who knows nothing because cars are a "mans domain". My mechanic also stated the tires were not calibrated in the computer system since being replaced. So here I am still, with a broken $7 part that fleet farm didn't replace when they broke the first time because they have zero integrity or accountability for their actions. Safe to say, my family with 7 cars will never be returning to fleet farm. You just lost a lot of work that...
Read moreWhen it comes to home needs or sporting gear I often overlook fleet farm. It's not intentional but as someone that frequents Menards and HD for work, it's not very often that I think to myself to go check out Fleet Farm. Let me tell you, that is my mistake. Not only do they have a great selection of tools and things to help with home improvement needs, they also have imo the best variety of sporting gear to cover your fishing, hunting, and camping needs. I've not had the best luck with interactions with staff however much of that is due to time of year and busyness of location I'm visiting. In lue of that, they do have a handful of kiosks where your able to look up products, do price checks, and more. That's an awesome option for those not comfortable with asking for help, or just not finding anyone that is available to help.
If your big into domesticated animals, they have a huge selection of products to care for your animals and pets. Short of tractor supply, this is the only brick and mortar store that carries such a wide variety of products to better care for your animals.
I've heard from many that their auto services are also top notch. I've yet to take advantage of this but come the spring when I need to put some new tires on the whip, I may in fact make this my first stop.
When thinking Fleet Farm, the thought of toys and gifts for kids doesn't immediately pop into my head. However this Christmas I was able to get my nieces and nephews all their Christmas gifts from the same store, and grabbed myself a new ice fishing rod on the way out. I most certainly would recommend the store for anyone looking for an array of things but also for someone looking for a specific item outta one of the areas I covered above. Giving 4/5 only due to lack of interaction I've been able to...
