Been shopping at the store for 4 months now and until yesterday Aug 12 2017 I was delighted with the place. People always beyond friendly. While checking out I was told I needed to take a nerve pill because I make sure my custodial grandsons obey in the store. Never touching them just letting them know that they are not to misbehave. Then when I left the cashier decided to rant about me to my daughter in law saying I was being abusive to the boys and always am while in the store. I was informed of this and went back inside only for the cashier to see me and say "Oh no, let's take this outside." A very sarcastic Sorry from her and then when I tried to explain why I have such high behavioral standards she yet again gave her opinion of why I was wrong. If this woman has a PhD then why is she a cashier at a salvage store. I bust my butt and worry everyday how I am going to support these boys and get them what they need. This woman needs to know her place. This was not her place. She said the boys are very well behaved compared to the other kids that come in. Well then I am apparently doing something right. Stay out of my business and I am definitely not revisiting yours. I will shop across the street from now on and tell the boys we arent going there anymore due to improper employee behavior. At 3 and 5 I believe they know more about proper behavior than the...
Read moreThis is by far the best salvage grocery store I've ever been to, and honestly it gives even regular "bargain" grocery stores a run for their money. Unlike other salvage grocery stores I've visited in the past, McCoy's regularly has items available that are still in date that just have a bit of cosmetic damage to the packaging. The items that are out of date are always things that a normal person would have no qualms about using--canned or boxed goods a few weeks out; deli meats that were frozen before their use-by dates, etc. And it isn't at all unusual to find unique gourmet or international food items that are completely fresh but that just didn't sell well in their original location. Their produce offerings are almost always an amazing value although you do have to watch for signs of a chill on fresh fruits and veggies. We rarely buy potatoes and onions anywhere else these days...New produce stock arrives on Thursdays, so don't bother visiting on Tuesday or Wednesday if you're specifically looking for produce. Basically, if you're willing to be flexible and aren't married to finding a specific product at a specific time, you can always come out of McCoy's with some...
Read moreThis place was once a good place to shop now they have raised their prices higher than retail stores to the point that a 10lb roll of hamburger is $36 but it’s $29 at Walmart and their frozen chicken is way overpriced as well and the stuff in the freezer section is priced the same as Walmart or higher and when I asked about this on their Facebook page, John Frey blocked me. If you want customers you need to have good customer service and answer questions rather than block someone just for asking a question. Save yourself time and money and go to Walmart and shop the Great Value brand there. This is the second time John Frey has gotten mad rather than answer a simple question. I thought the pricing was a mistake so I asked and got blocked for. Guess I’ll go to United Grocery Outlet and Walmart instead. Better price and friendlier people. EDIT after leaving this review I was unblocked and contacted, only to be told he blocked me from the group to contact me and tell me he’s trying to help people. Like, what? That makes no sense but still no...
