If I could give them zero stars I would!!! As bad as I was hurting, I waited until I knew it wouldn't be many people around 5:00 a.m. or so. The people admitting me were very nice, and the nurse who did me in a triage was nice as well. That's where it ends. When I got done with triage they took me right back to a room and not too long after I changed my into my gown and sat down they came in. I told them what was wrong, about my back hurting very badly they told me they would give me some type of medication while I waited for the urine test and then they would give me an x-ray or MRI to take a look at my back. Well, not soon after that they came back and said oh your urine test is fine, I'm going to give you a prescription for inflammation and you can go see a doctor. My question is how do you assume someone has inflammation without a x-ray or some type of image to see that. She never touched me, most doctors at least touch your back if you say your back is hurting, they at least have you breathing in and out, and check all the places even look in your ears and eyes, she did nothing!! She stood across the room from me and talked to me... She listened to me tell her how bad I was hurting and tell me she'd be back. Which she did not come back I might add!! She sent her a nurse with papers telling me that doctor's going to give you a prescription for inflammation and she wants you to go see your own doctor. It was ridiculous I was upset I told her to keep your papers and their prescription. I will find a doctor who actually give me an x-ray or an MRI to look into my back to see what is going on that's giving me such horrible pain! I let them know I did not want their pain medication as I get my own pain medication.... I just wanted them to take the time and check in and see what's going on!! This patient is saying hey I'm hurting way more than I've been hurting in the past. It's severe pain can you help me and they gave me a prescription for four pills and it was some type of steroid. I did not accept that. Because like I said I wasn't looking for medication I wanted to actually be checked out! How can you be so lazy or you don't do your job or act like you know so much where you can't even do any type of investigation just to cross all your t's and that all your I's??? I honestly will never go again! I will drive to Edwards Hospital if I have to. When I first made my review I actually thought it was for a different doctor's office so I gave her a review for somewhere else, but when I checked in and found out where I was reviewing I actually had to come back in and revise this review because this treatment was awful! I felt like trash when I left the hospital. Not better, but much worse! I was hurting physically, and I was let down emotionally and that's such a shame they're supposed to be a hospital of faith I believe! No, that was a...
Read moreman like quite a few of others have posted within a month and even up to weeks here in the reviews i too had a super odd experience. this er is usually on top of things as ive been there quite a few times before but as of 11/2/23 it was like the twilight zone. i went in for a sinus infection that left me unable to breathe the register and intake nurse were great seeing both took all of about 5 minutes, actually the in take nurse called me back while i was still with the register! so i go back to a room and im waiting and waiting and i constantly hear foot steps going back and forth voices talking and laughing etc. i call the nurses station to see when i may be seen and they say the doctor is with a critical patient but the code i heard for the critical patient came two hours after i was put back in a room! so then after i hit the nurse call button to ask that question i accidently hit it again and the nurse answers "is there something you need?" i say "no i was just trying to figure out how to turn this dinging call button off." she simply says "oh" and disconnects so i say well if youre too lazy or ornery to come turn it off or at least explain to me how to do it ill just let this sob connect to ding. then i hear a baby come in after me and the doctor attends to him/her and im still waiting. so i say im going outside real quick to see if the cold air might help me breathe b/c its been this long waiting with no attention i know i dont have to worry about the doctor coming in.......well dontcha know when i got back my mom says the doctor just came in sees im not there and says hell be right back, but never does. my mom finally goes to the nurses station and the nurse acts surprised that there was anyone even in my room waiting! props to her b/c she did TRY and get something done for me(tall slender brownish hair with an accent, sorry forgot her name!). then finally ive been waiting so long the morning shift change starts to happen so me and my mom just decided to leave and i went to walgreens clinic instead. simple prescription for nose spray and im in and out in 20 minutes and could finally breathe by that night! i know that bolingbrook just got bought by uchicago i think......so i dont know if that has something to do with this new...
Read moreThe level of care is inconsistent. Some nurses are amazing at what they do and they do it well. Then there are the nurses who are overconfident and don't listen to the patient. I became a pin cushion with the number of times I was poked and prodded by nurses who were attempting to start an IV. I kept telling them that it'd be easier to run the IV in the back of my hand but the nurses insisted on trying to run the IV in other areas and they'd blow the vein. It was beyond frustrating that the nurses basically ignored me by not listening to my concerns. I even asked if they use the vein finder to help find a good vein and I was told that there wasn't one when there actually was .one. Then I was told that there was nobody who could use the vein finder until morning. Seriously? So if someone needs an IV but the nurses can't find a viable vein or the patient is a hard stick, they have to wait until the next day? How inefficient is that?
I wasn't given a copy of my Medicare patient rights and no social worker came to see me. The charge nurse on the day of my discharge (I can't remember her name) was rude and dismissive. She literally rolled me (I'm in a wheelchair ♿️) to the corner in the lobby and said that she'd met her obligation and there was nothing else the staff could do for me. In her rush to dismiss me, she ordered an Uber to take me home but the car that arrived was too small and I would have had difficulty getting into the car. Transportation opions weren't discussed with me because if they had been, I would have requested a medivan or an ambulance that could accommodate my wheelchair without me having to try to get out of my chair and try to squeeze into the back seat of a compact car
As far as food goes, there needs to be more options for people who don't eat red meat and the food needs to be more consistent. Sometimes it's perfectly cooked and sometimes it's undercooked or overcooked. If nutrition is such an integral part of healing, why not have better standards for the food that is served?
I'll end this survey on a high note. I want to commend Maria who was a nurse in the ER. She was patient and she LISTENED to me and was super attentive. More nurses could stand...
