Our first night stay at Country Inn & Suites by Radisson Bolingbrook, I-55 we had a great time. ||||The second night was an experience I hope no one has to endure. I understand that accidents do happen and a toilet had been clogged by a hotel patron. My expectation would be that the hotel would ensure that rooms/public spaces would be cleaned appropriately. We had toilet bowl water, urine and fecal matter filling our light fixture and dripping throughout the restroom. This was on the 2nd floor. The water continued to drip down to the first floor hallway. There was nothing disclosing that what people were walking through contained bodily fluids. Therefore everyone was walking through it. Creating a very unsanitary condition.||||I went to the room to discuss how it was cleaned. I have asthma and am sensitive to bleach and quat based cleaning supplies. I asked the staff what they used and how they used it. Staff knew how to use the hydrogen peroxide based product. I thanked them for that. I shared that if the room was clean I may feel comfortable staying. However I wanted to look first. I went to check the room. The toilet paper was still wet and soiled. The bathroom pictures were still wet and soiled. I told the hotel that I didn't feel comfortable saying if they couldn't put in the effort to actually clean. ||||I asked for a different room. None were available. I asked for a refund if I could find another hotel. No one had available rooms within 30 miles. The manager offered points but refused reimbursement since we were not staying somewhere else. ||||We had to stay out of our room while they were cleaning. The girls had a softball tournament the next day. They were kept awake. When the manager told us our room was clean. The girls went up to the room. I was still calling other hotels. The manager knocked once on the door and walked in without sharing who he was. Two teenage girls were in the room by themselves when he walked in. Several of the girls also shared that this man was also taking pictures of them in the pool. ||||All of these concerns were shared with the manager and the complaint hotline. I ended up getting 10,000 points. I am sharing this information so that people can make informed choices about their safety and...
Read moreWe just spent 4 nights here, and while it's not bad for the price, these reviews are very generous.
The good: there is 24h coffee in the lobby, a pretty big continental breakfast, and a Keurig in the room. The gym was pretty descent and all of the equipment was working, only thing it could have used was some cleaning spray, so you can wipe down the equipment after use (the floor mats and equipment were a pretty grimey) Staff were friendly. It's only about 35 mins from downtown Chicago and the neighbourhood area is super suburban, lots of great parks and trails and every restaurant and retail establishment you could want within a few minute drive.
The bad: After 2 days of no housekeeping I went to the desk to inquire to find out it's upon request only. With a 4 day booking, that would have been nice to know. Was told the request had to be in before noon, so we were stuck until our last day before they came to clean. This seems to result in everyone putting their garbage in the hallway and the smell wasn't great because it would sit there for hours with the smell of garbage and dirty diapers in the air. The carpets are stained in the halls and rooms, elevator was always dirty. The ceramic tiles on the bathroom floor were cracked in our room and you could feel them move around under your feet.
All that being said, for a 'Chicago on a budget' experience, it really wasn't too bad. We won't be booking here again, and wouldn't have if the reviews were a little more honest about the cleanliness. We would definitely stay in the Bolingbrook area...
Read moreLooks great from the outside and the staff is very friendly but the second floor smelled like chlorine and damp, wet carpet.
The room had a large stain on the carpet, and the refrigerator was a little dirty with a long hair in it. (See pictures)
The TV does not have Netflix or YouTube, but the remote has buttons for it 🥴. I called the front desk, and it was confirmed that there is no internet on the TV, no Netflix, and no YouTube, but I can use a FireStick or laptop to connect. I wish I would have known this, but I'm glad I brought my iPad.
The walls and floors are extremely thin because I can hear every single door slam on this floor. And it slams very hard and very loud, waking me out of my sleep. The pillows deflate to little flat sheets, I could barely sleep. I tossed and turned all night. The mattress is normal, not too hard or soft.
The breakfast was lackluster. You made your own waffles, which is totally fine, and they were good. They had these small omelets with cheese, but they were cooked hard. The bacon was good. The biggest issue was that we couldn't take our breakfast to our rooms. Which is so weird because the dining space is not that big at all. So we are all cramped in this tiny dining space and if there are no seats, then you have to just stand up and eat. That is not hospitable at all.
I have no idea how this place got so many 5 star reviews, but it should be a 3.5 to 3.7 stars. I definitely will not be...
