Mast General Store Annex — Local services in Boone

There’s a lot of history (and candy) inside of the original Mast store! I’ve been going here since I was a child, and 20 years later I’m taking my own child. It’s kind of become a family tradition to go and get the old school candy! You can find Jams, Jellies, dried foods, candies and chocolate that are all local, as well as retro candy that’s hard to find elsewhere! Aside from the candy side, they also have an entire clothing and houseware section as well, but I believe the candy area is the highlight of the entire business! You grab a bucket, pick what you want, and pay per pound. Yes, you can get chocolate “ice cubes” here too! I highly recommend trying their Cheerwine chocolate bar if you like cherry flavors, because it’s really unique. I thought it was simply delicious! The prices can be a bit steep, but the experience is always unforgettable. Especially for children- as the saying goes “Happy as a kid in a candy store!” Is that right? I never leave reviews but if I could give this store a zero I would. Went with my mother-in-law and husband and like any other people we were browsing the store and had a couple of things in our hands but after seeing the outrageous price on the things we put them back exactly where we found them. Afterwards, we went to the candy barrel side and next thing you know one of the associates goes up to the lady in the cash register to point me and my husband out whispering to keep an eye out because we look like thieves which got me upset. I told my mother-in-law about it and she talked to the manager and her excuse was she taught we were thieves because of the way we made eye contact. That is just the most ridiculous thing I’ve ever heard. It’s one thing to receive bad customer service but to accuse someone of being a thief just because of eye contact is just a big no. Store is organized and clean but mostly everything there is a little overpriced if you don’t mind getting rip off or randomly being accuse of being a thief this...

Was totally disappointed today. My husband and I are cyclists. We saw no signs at all saying store parking only, but it shouldn’t have mattered because we park, ride then shop in the store so we are patrons. We did this Wednesday then went and shopped at the original store. Tried to park there again two days later and were told we could not. That you guys checked plates and had authorities called for offenders. I explained to the girl that we only rode for less than two hours and intended to shop in the annex after the ride. She didn’t care and made us leave. I think this is totally rude when we intended to be patrons- but will not now. And just for the record, we parked on the far side and. Only one other vehicle was there (holds 20 or more ) when we left snd when we got back. So we did not affect others in any way. We always make sure to frequent the store where we park. Ride move...
