There are no official hiking trails to Buttermilk Falls. But it is about 3/4 mile downstream from Blue Hen Falls. The falls are on Boston Mills ski resort property. The trail is not maintained, but it is well used. You will cross the stream about three times. So your feet will probably get wet! Once you get there the falls are worth the hike! There is no official trail to the falls, because I believe that it's actually on private property.
But if you are ready for a short adventure, it's totally worth the hike.
First, get to the Blue Hen Falls.
Then find the sign that says "end of trail", pick up the path behind that sign.
You will cross the stream a couple of times walking on slippery rocks. Stay on the trail.
You will climb over logs blocking the trail.
You will come to an S in the stream of carved rock, it's just past this.
Finally in about 20 total minutes you will arrive at the Buttermilk...
Read moreOk... I'm not in shape, wear proper shoes or 20 anymore... In saying that I had a blast! Actual hiking on well groomed, easy to follow, maintained path. It is a little tough, for me the stairs, but so worth it in the end! The falls are easy to climb down to and most of the people we met encourage you to further go down the trail. This is not a park and walk to the falls , it's more like a decent hike. I truly enjoyed myself! Thank you trail system or parks department or both!!
