BUYER'S BEWARE I purchased a new Jayco Northpoint from Blue Compass August 2024. I was charged 695.00 for a PDI that was not performed. They even tried to bait and switch me at closing with another Northpoint (they had two on their lot at that time)--thank goodness I noticed the different VIN number. Then they said that the North Point I wanted (even though it was the exact same model... exact same year) they needed another $2,600 to close the sale.
On the first night of ownership, we drove the RV to a KY state park only to be awakened at 1:00 a.m. by our camp neighbors knocking on our door as alarms were sounding off. The regulator (which should be part of the PDI inspection) was defective and dumped two of the 40 pound tanks of propane into the RV. This propane issue could have killed us.
During the past 365 days we have only been able to use the RV for a total of five camp trips. The first camp night (day of purchase) alarms went off at 1:00 a.m. During the second camp trip the flexible PEX water lines broke and we had the extra expense of calling out a mobile tech. The third camp trip is when the kitchen side would not retract and again we had to pay out-of-pocket for a mobile tech to come out. And the fifth camp trip was scheduled because GE appliance service needed the RV at a park to have a technician come out and evaluate the oven that will not light.
The RV has been at Jayco approved service centers more than we have even used it. I am a retired public school teacher and I used my years of savings to buy the RV in hopes of enjoying the last years of my life. This experience has been exactly the opposite. I have been outright lied to by several Blue Compass employees and I would never suggest anybody purchase from them.
The kitchen slide would not retract, the roof has bubbles, the side wall seam is coming apart, the bedroom slide has twisted seals and is not parallel to the ground, the slide toppers were not installed correctly and dump water into the windows, the door opens during transit even after it is locked, the GE Profile oven will not light, and we have had several flexible PEX lines burst causing flooding issues...it just goes on and on.
We brought the RV back into Blue Compass Bowling Green's -Sister store located in Scottsvile for 9 warranty work items because we were told that Blue Compass Bowling Green did not have a large enough service center ...Please keep in mind that we were told if we bought the RV from them that we would "go to the first of the line if we ever needed service in the future"... Absolutely untrue in my experience.
I found out that not only the service manager was "let go" but the financial manager was "let go" and the GM was "let go" too. After the RV was in the Blue Compass service center for approximately one month, we discovered that absolutely nothing had been fixed or corrected. Yet I received notification through the bmpro and my Wi-Fi that my outdoor stair lights and then bedroom lights are being turned on at 2:00 a.m. I also received another notification stating that all three air conditioners were being turned on and left on.
Our RV is now back at the Jayco factory in Middlebury IN. It feels like we may never get to use it.
When I went to get my RV tags at the DMV....I had to pay more money because Blue Compass did not pay all the title/ taxes/registration costs. The Blue Compass finance manager also asked me to take a loan out even though I did not need one just so they could get a kick back. They required me to hold that loan for 7 months ...which I did ... this cost me more money in interest for the RV.
Based on my experience, I have found blue Compass to be an unreputable and dishonest company.
I will NEVER spend one more red cent at Blue Compass.
I am sharing a life lesson learned the hard way in hopes of preventing others from going thru this. I wish I had known...because then I would not have purchased from...
Read moreWorst place ever to buy a RV from. Let me just tell you how awful and rude this place was. When we first arrived Kelly, who was awesome let us look around, she then approached us about a 2015 StarCraft 33ft travel trailer. I thought wow this is quite the deal. Was one owner looked in awesome shape and looked to be nothing wrong with it. So we bought it and scheduled to have it brought to my camp spot Dec 5th at 9:30 am with two people coming to do a walk through and explain things to me. Well this is where it gets good. The driver calls says I will be there at 10:30, I am thinking ok hour late but whatever things happen, then when he arrives he backs trailer in wrong way DOES not show me how anything works and when the owner and park man come out and make the comment he has this in wrong, the drive of RV dunplap bails. He never asked me the owner anything else I can help you with he just took off. Now I have never in my life owned one of these so all this is new. Thankfully two of the men from Grand Ole Rv Resort was kind enough to turn the trailer around to where all the sewer hoses would reach and cords. They then in the process of hooking my trailer up and using the electric power button to lower my hitch popped 3 fuses from the tongue of the trailer. Not only that but the guy who was suppose to do the walk through from dunlap never showed me how to use the hot water which valve to turn on so for a week I had zero hot water. Nothing was shown and the two keys they did give to me for the storage bins outside do not work, the guy at the rv resort had to give me some and Randy and Jim have had to explain how to use my TV to get channels, how to set certain things, and go over everything with me. I am extremely dissatisfied with that place and WILL never purchase a thing from them again, nor will I tell anyone about them. The whole RV resort knows how rude that man was that delivered it and how unprofessional he was. It is funny how Dunlap put down Camping World but so many ppl at the campground have said nothing but wonderful things about them. Dunlap RV got their money and took advantage of a young lady. I hope this business learns from this experience if you want customers you should probably treat them right and check your trailers over before they are pulled off your lot. I do want to say thank you to Grand Ole RV Resort for all their help and assistance. They have been the best and if it was not for them I would not know what to do. Dunlap RV just wants your money and cares nothing about the customer....
Read moreWhat started as what I thought was going to be a great experience ended much differently. I inquired about a used trailer via the website. I started receiving a phone call daily which I ignored as I was information gathering. They finally emailed and I responded with our budget and was pleasantly surprised when Kody responded back that they could meet our budget and would also take our trade for what we wanted. He promised that there were no mechanical issues or water damage or issues with the trailer, Which since we had to drive 3 hours to visit we trusted his word and the few photos on the listing. We started the purchase process and were approved for financing. We scheduled a day for us to bring our trade in and complete the purchase. We arrived and were greeted by Lane the finance person. Apparently Kody was off that day, which we were a bit surprised about but no biggie. We were taken out to walk through "our" trailer and we were happy until I found water damage on the base of the slide out. The slide was out so I asked him to bring it in so that we could check the seals and make sure the small amount of damage was minor and not going to be an ongoing issue. The slide had difficulty coming in and it was explained that maybe it just needed to be put back and forth a few times to resync. After a few try's and another tech coming out, the slide never did sync up properly and seal correctly. At this point we were pretty frustrated since we drove 3 hours with our trailer on the quote by Kody that "our unit doesn't have any leaks and all main components work" No one seemed to know about this issue. When we went back inside, Lane asked us how it was and we explained the issue. He acted surprised and went out with my husband to see what the issue was. When they came back inside Lane apologized explaining that they would "make it right" and that it would be fixed. Obviously we were angry and frustrated since we felt lied to. We drove the 3 hours back home with our trailer and I expected to hear from someone from the dealership that night or even the next day with what the next steps were. Not a word. None. Instead I see that the trailer has been relisted for sale. So buyer beware the 2020 Grand Design Imagine 2500RL that is listed on their site has a slide seal issue and water damage. Maybe this will save someone else from a 3 hour drive and run around by sales...
