El Potrero Cantina & Grill — Restaurant in Franklin

We took a stop here while passing through. They bring chips and salsa to the table and brought us drinks right away. We ordered 3 shredded chicken enchiladas a la carte because we didn't like their enchilada dinner choices. Them we had to order a side of beans and rice. We also ordered a combo plate that came with more enchiladas and a beef taco. The combo plate came with a hard shell taco, but it didn't specify on the menu that it was going to come like that even though thankfully we enjoy hard shell tacos. The enchiladas were good. The ranchero sauce was decent, but the ground beef and the taco were very Bland. It needed seasoning. If the ground beef was seasoned, the taco would have been amazing. The refried beans we received were overly salty and hard to eat because they were so salty. The rice was great and had a nice flavor, but almost bordering on being too salty as well. Chips were great, but the salsa was bland. We asked for chopped jalapeños and onions to accompany our meal and happy we did because the dishes needed seasoning and spice. We were visiting my mother and she wanted us to go here because she said the food was great. The restaurant inside was closed, but there was outside dining covered with tarps. The setting was okay with a heater in place and the food that was ordered was good.

The experience was only okay because they allow smoking in this small dining area. There were a couple of rude older ladies chain smoking filling the entire dining area with the smell of smoke. All of us are non-smokers and our children were also present with us.

My wife kindly asked them if they could not smoke because our child has asthma,, and they responded very rudely, stating it looks like you guys are eating and breathing fine while we are smoking. The staff unfortunately would not do anything about it and neglected to create other accommodations for us despite us being upset.

Would definitely not return here after this experience despite the food being good. There is no reason someone should have to be exposed to this when dining in...

Came on a Friday when they were having karaoke, so my experience might be different from the norm thanks to that, but that's the only grace I'll give this place. The atmosphere/decorum is good and that's where most anything positive stops. I went with my family, so there were five of us, and we got seated pretty quickly, but after that the waiter was pretty lax. Only one of us ever got a refill, it took him a long while to take anyone's order, and even though we told him how we didn't want the check yet because we were waiting for our turn to sing, he sent it anyway. Two of us got the Mexican burgers and they both came back partially burnt (the meat was actually fine, even if it lacked flavor) and the fries were cold as soon as we got them.
