Turns out this is legit and not a scam. I will give my experience. Originally I gave this place a 1 star review explaining I felt this was a scam because the "US Department of State Chicago Passport Agency" had this address of Sterling, VA which made no sense to me. I applied for the first time for a passport. I received a letter from this place in August 2022 requesting me to send documents 5 years or older of proof of identity before they will process my passport. I googled this place and read the 1 star reviews so I tossed the letter into my desk and left a 1 star review agreeing with others that this was a scam. So, I waited until November 2022, I made a few calls to the passport agency asking if something happened to my application or why is the website only saying "Processing" or why are things taking too long because I paid extra for expedited service but they would only tell me to keep checking the website for any updates. I feel like I have waited too long to receive my passport, I applied in July 2022. So I decide to do further research on this place. I check the "Travel dot state dot gov website and this Sterling VA address comes up, I seriously doubt a government website would have a scam address on their website, you can check for yourself. So, I felt that it has to be legit if it's on the government website. So, I decided to make copies of all documents I could find of the proof they requested, I sent it to this exact address that is on this review page in Sterling VA. A couple weeks later, I get an email telling me my Passport is processing even though it's been processing for 6+ months, I never received a email or phone call from any passport agency so I was surprised to see one, another week later I receive another email telling me my passport is going to be shipped. Today 1-5-23 I received my passport in the mail, they told me in the email all the documents of proof I sent to them will be sent back to me separately. So, this place is not a scam. If you're wondering why you are waiting so long to receive any updates about your passport or anything then now you know why. Do your research people, don't follow the 1 star reviews like I did, look it up...
Read morePaid extra for expedited shipping for an upcoming trip on 11/25. My application was sent to the agency on 9/28/23. On 10/26, it was shipped and on 10/27 it arrived at the WRONG address. They used my address from 7 years ago, which is not present on my application or supporting documents. It is also my first passport, so it isnt from a previous application. You literally write on there where you want it sent to. How do you mess that up? Now I had to pay $30 for overnight shipping to request a reissue of my passport to my correct address on 11/13 in an attempt to make it to my trip on the 25th. You put your phone number on the application for contact, yet I was never notified of my passport being returned to them because they shipped it to the wrong place. I reviewed my application thoroughly ten times over before I actually applied. I followed the instructions to a T, yet they can't even get my address right. If they don't have it sent by Friday, I have to drive 13 hours to pick it up to make it to my trip on the 25th. And there's no compensation for gas or travel expenses to make that drive or the extra $30 I had to pay to get it sent to them on time. Edit: I paid $30 as told by a lady on the phone for overnight shipping. I called again to get an update on it, and a guy told me it was all wrong and I didn't need to send that. He got it fixed but still ticked that in the end I wasted $30 for this application. Finally received my passport on time but never received my birth...
Read moreI originally applied for my passport on April 1st and paid for expedited services to obtain my passport before my July 8th date of travel. I then received a letter in the mail May 17th regarding more information was needed. So I went ahead and sent that in and it was delivered on May 21st as I received a confirmation code after I tracked the delivery. Since then I have checked the online portal to check my status, called the 1-877 phone number, and reached out to both my local congressman and state representative. I’ve had different answers from the different representatives from these phone calls regarding my application. While on a phone call with a customer service representative, they asked me if I wanted to expedite my passport application. Therefore, this is the 2nd time I have paid for expedited services and I have yet not received my passport. But yet they were quick to get my money. I finally got confirmation on Monday, July 3rd, that my application was approved and that they are now waiting for the Charleston Agency (located in Sterling, VA) to mail out my passport. Again, I travel on July 8th and I’m afraid I will not receive my passport on time to depart. Now because of this I will not be able to travel with my family all because of lack of urgency. If my application has been approved, why hasn’t it been mailed already? If I could rate this place no stars, I...
