Close your eyes and imagine a quintessential New England farmer's market. What you just pictured is the Brattleboro Outdoor Farmer's Market.
Last year, my wife and I happened upon this by accident as we had stopped to check out the covered bridge over the river next to the market. When we found ourselves coming through the area again this year, we had to make the farmer's market a stop.
The market has a great variety of vendors. There are fruit and vegetable stalls with some of the most eye-catching produce. There are smoothies, chai lattes, farm-raised meat, mushrooms, locally produced honey, wine, bourbon, and much more. In addition, there are plenty of art vendors and food vendors. Both times we had gone to the farmer's market, there were authentic Indian and Mexican food vendors.
During the last visit, the farmer's market had a group of musicians playing a variety of festive music as well as an educational display of caterpillars.

Read moreI love spending time at this cute, little farmers market. The vendors are all very helpful and friendly. There is a good variety of local products not limited to produce and plants. There are quite a few vendors selling local organic meats. There are also local cheese, butters, and breads available from vendors. Of course, plenty of maple syrup for the best deals around. It's really nice to be able to buy so many things locally. My family shops here every week in the summer. It's walking distance to a great playground and park. The creek that runs through this area and covered bridge make for great sightseeing for those who aren't local. Easy access off of...
