Starting with the obvious...don't expect a Houston or Fort Worth livestock show and rodeo experience. We try to make it every year, but we never stay for evening performances choosing instead to attend the fair early in the day for several reasons; accommodate both elderly and young family members, avoid the crowds, better parking options, easier to keep track of the kiddos and shorter lines and more seating as needed in the food court. Nice, laid back county fair with just enough vendor booths to keep you interested as you stroll around, both indoors and outdoors. The livestock exhibition is always a treat for the kids and a manageable size for both young kids and older folks. Midway area is not huge but good enough. The food court area is covered, plenty of seating and while it could do with more food vendors, you have all the expected fair goodies. Compared to the big city events, Washington Cty Fair is much more affordable overall; parking, admission, food midway. Close to Houston and worth the trip to experience a old fashioned...

Unmowed grass, trash everywhere, full timers with no rules in place for keeping your area clean and no rules for unattended dogs. Trailer next to us had a trash can overflowing with trash, one RV had plywood skirting and another had outside dog pen that the large dog stood up with chest above fence barking. Read moreIt was way too hot!! People are getting heat stroke and can't enjoy the fair. I was overcome by the heat and had to be rescued but it took a very long time to get a ride to get to my car. The paramedic team wasn't even anywhere around, a friend gave me a ride to my car (my husband drove me home). There needs to be some cooling stations or covered areas besides the few buildings with A/C and maybe more paramedic teams driving around offering water or ice to better help...
