5-19-25 High Falls 125' Cascading Falls Two large parking lots next to each other. Have bathrooms here. Also a picnic area, even one covered picnic area on the trail by Triple Falls viewing spot. A 2mi. round trip hike to base of falls and back. You will first see Triple Falls, then 10 minutes more to get to High Falls. It's located in DuPont State Recreational Forest. It's also the tallest waterfall in DuPont State Forest. High Falls, on the Little River in Transylvania County, is a waterfall located in the DuPont State Forest, in the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina along with Triple Falls and Hooker Falls. All 3 are located from this same parking area. There is another parking area near this one. It is worth going to visit all 3 falls. The trail leading to the base of Triple Falls was closed off, but can still see it good from the trail. And there is a link to Hooker Falls on the way back down the trail. The trail to High Falls is fairly easy from the parking lot as itâs a wide open path but it is a bit steep on the way back up. We chose to go along the rocks and get right up close to the falls but we witnessed several people slip and fall, some carrying small children. If you choose to go close, please be cautious. The waterfall was easily the best Iâve seen in the area so far!
We also took the trail to the covered bridge to view the top of the falls as well. The covered bridge is beautiful and definitely worth the extra...
Read moreGreat 2-mile loop hike (easy-moderate) located in DuPont State Forest. It was busier on the weekend but it was no problem parking in the overflow lot next to the main High Falls Access Area. We saw all ages and leashes, furry friends on the trails.
If you decide to get a closer peek at the falls please use caution as youâll need to climb across wet rocks at your own risk. Just keep this in mind if you bring your dog or kiddos along. We made our way around the rocks just fine and took in some pretty breathtaking views of the falls from this closer vantage point. A gorgeous, worthwhile hike (be sure to check out the Triple Falls while...
