We've been coming to the Cape for over 15 years, staying in the same place, visiting the same local eateries. Everything about Ferretti's Market has gone downhill and it started many years ago under the new ownership. The 1st time we went under new ownership, I noticed things were not the same. It was ALWAYS expensive, but now -even more expensive. I get prices increase, but this much? The star of the show for us was always the meat case and the sandwich quality - with a bag of chips and a pickle - added without asking. I'm not sure if that's still the case though as we haven't been there in so long. The meat was always fresh- and what a selection- so many choices! The sandwiches, always large and tasty. Not much so anymore. So, for many years, we stopped going. TODAY, I gave it another chance. I walked in to the smell of what seems to be the cleaner called Fabuloso (?) I could be wrong on the brand. I was looking for chocolate ice cream- which I found- but was so soft and melted. I bought it anyways. Now, looking over other comments here, I wonder how many times it has possibly been refrozen- I'm not sure I will eat that. I purchased a 3 pack of microwave popcorn, which I later noticed at home was expired. I should never have to check the expiration dates in a food store. In the chip aisle, there was a wet floor sign, with water on the floor, which if I had to guess was coming from one of the freezers or fridges leaking on the other side of the aisle. That's not a great sign if those held food that needed to be constantly kept cold. There were pallets near the soda/ drink case (and outside too) that did not make it dangerous to walk or block anything, however, it looked messy and unkept. It's just really gone downhill since the new owners took over. Running a small business is hard, but Ferretti's Market didn't need to be changed- it literally could run itself if everything was just kept the same way it was. It's currently being run more so as a bodega and Ferretti's Market has been a staple in Brewster for years as being more than that title. The location is prime and foot traffic is great - It deserves better ! Unfortunately, I wish I could say my opinions have changed a couple years later, but...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI have loved Ferretis for years⦠convenient as Brewster has no large grocery stores. Although a little more pricey, worth it. Ownership changed this year so the verdict was out. I have continued to shop there hoping the standards would be maintained. After my visit yesterday, the verdict is in! I WILL NEVER SET FOOT IN FERRETIS AGAIN. At 5:00 pm they were out of angus burgers (a staple). I asked if they could make some patties with the angus beef they did have, and I was told āno, I canāt do thatā. The boxed lettuce that is $3.99 at Stop and Shop is now $4.99. I asked about the 20% price increase and was told āprice change, same as big storesā. Untrue. Prices have increased on many items, beyond what is reasonable. The cleanliness of the store both inside and out has deteriorated! Floors strewn with who knows what, and cardboard boxes stacked on floor in tiny vegetable section, creating a hazard. The broccoli was limp. Flying insects were all over some of the produce. Cashiers often not paying attention and unwelcoming. On several occasions I have found bread isle almost empty and can often no longer find Organic milk. When I ask I am told ādelivery lateā. Zero customer service. Very sad day...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreIām visiting Brewster from Canada, and Ferrettiās Market was one of the best stops I made during my trip. I had heard good things from a local, so I decided to check it outāand Iām so glad I did.
The deli sandwiches are amazing. I ordered one to take to the beach, and it was packed with fresh ingredients, super flavorful, and clearly made with care. You can really taste the quality. The meats, in general, are excellentāeverything looks fresh and well prepared, and the butcher counter had a great selection.
The staff were very friendly and welcoming, which made the experience even better. Even though it was my first time in the store, they made me feel right at home and were happy to help me find what I needed.
The shop itself has a lot of charm. Itās not a big commercial placeāit feels local and authentic, with lots of unique items on the shelves and a cozy, old-school vibe.
If youāre visiting Cape Cod or anywhere near Brewster, definitely stop by Ferrettiās. Whether youāre looking for a quick sandwich, fresh meat for the grill, or just a taste of local flavor, this place really delivers. Iāll absolutely be coming back the next time...
