If you are handicapped, Bristol has you covered in many ways. Very close parking. Pick you up with an accessibility golf cart. Drop you have on level ground just outside the grandstands, literally 100 feet from your seat/spot. Plenty of space for the chair or scooter and really nice seats for the able bodied helper. Did I mention tge parking was no charge (a $10 savings). Then take you across the track to the pits so you can meet the driver's, watch the crews, and buy an overpriced souvenir tee, hat, Hoodia, etc. to support your favorite driver and team. But it's a shirt you'll wear with pride for many years to come. Yes, the $5 bottle of water is a bit of a stretch, but we didn't bring our own - which is allowed. But when the t-shirt gun sent it sailing our direction my first thought was there's no way it comes this far up. Much to everyone's surprise, this not so awesome athlete snatched it out of the sky as the hands of the guy in the seat below went sailing up past and caught nothing but air. He was a great sport as I offered it to him anyway and said you caught it fair and square. Sadly, John and Brittany both went out in tge semi finals, but Austine Prock won the day for their team. Matt and Angie Smith didn't win, but Matt was 199 plus mph on two wheels, just shy of that 200. And don't even get me started on how surprised we were at the power and volume. With hearing protectors on, it was still excitingly loud. And every time they'd go down the track the stands felt the power. It was nothing short of spectacular! And the folks at Thunder Valley were magicians. The sped up the time between races to beat the rain. It didn't start until we were driving out of the lot. If you ever have a chance to attend a race at Bristol Dragway, GO!!! It isn't inexpensive, but it us very well worth the cost! And my wife, who pays a little attention when it is on TV said it was a great day and she never got bored. The only problems now are, I'll want to go again in a few weeks when it comes to Ohio. And it will never be the same on TV as it...
Β Β Β Read moreEdit: first time @ a Bristol event today. LOUD! Race-car sounds were Godzilla-like monsters raging at one another as they lined up and raced. 117 Dba on my Apple watch, and that was non-nitro cars. Very nice reserved seats in the shade. (I can remember losing seats after leaving seats at other racetracks). Cool to walk under the track to get to the βpitsβ. My dear Dad would have loved this place, !β¬Β₯* noise included, God rest his soul. Loved that a lady in parking gave us a great parking pass. (Yes, I gave her a $20 to βdonate to charityβ). Got to the track at 11AM with tickets purchased online the night before. Another nice lady gave us a golf cart ride from parking lot to our FF section of grandstands. Security guy at ticket checkpoint gruffly made my wife open up her small 4β x 6β clutch purse to see what was inside it. That felt invasive and over the line. Found our seats and put on ear plugs to watch/hear some really loud minor-league vehicles make passes down the track. Yikes! This is bad for eardrums. Went on a tour of the pits. Mission Foods was handing out free corn chips to all that were in the shape of a race car. Tasty. Tony Stewart! Yay! Finished touring the βcarnival-feelβ pits and back in our car and leaving the track a little after noonβ¦. Intense and positive experience but also a hot and muggy day. Wish I could have taken a selfie in a race car. Car show for me tomorrow 120 miles away and then church on Sunday. Infinity series in Sonoma has my attention this weekend: Sheldon to the front please!
Wow! Incredible design on the drag racing strip! And across the parking lot sits an NFL stadium-like GIGANTIC NASCAR racetrack! But that is another story. The drag strip sits between two hills/mountains and offers great viewing for spectators and participants. Shame that only one huge event, Thunder Valley Nationals, happens here each year in June as this place is so well designed and wonderful...
Β Β Β Read moreThe fact that owner is allowing use of facility for covid shots is amazing. This has always been my favorite racetrack on the circuit there is so much excitement on the short track NEVER a dull moment except weather maybe.I hope everyone remembers all the volunteer efforts that are allowing us to be vaccinated and the doctor on site( don't remember his name regretfully) was a welcome surprise too. If we are financially capable in the near future don't forget this WONDERFUL racetrack that has something for Everyone whether you want alcohol free, camping, smoke free, assistance in moving around the hills or just questions this track has it and don't forget the experience and fun the family can be had Too it's not just for us single people. Thanks everyone for your help in this once in a lifetime vaccinations mess we have and maybe we can find a solution to what is an awful experience I'd not wish on anyone. We have to do as we are told and follow these guidelines and or rules or we will continue to have to find other measures for this horrible deadly virus. Many appreciations to...
