We had planned an afternoon birthday party for my Dad on Saturday, Feb 17th from 3-6PM. We had several courts reserved and planned on having a few snacks and beverages set up in the “party area” as I have never actually seen a party in that space but rather people sometimes sitting in that space, or warming up if all the courts are reserved. We had no idea this space needed to be reserved or that there was a cost associated with this as there is no signage located anywhere in that area. We set up in that space from 3-4PM, and shortly after we were set, a woman behind the desk (didn’t get her name but she had longer/mid-length curly hair and glasses) approached us in a super rude, and accusatory way. She had mentioned that another group had this space reserved starting at 5:00PM and that we will have to get out immediately. While this was not a problem, it was the way she went about it that was incredibly rude and unprofessional. While trying to have a calm conversation and reach a resolution, she was coming at us in a way that was so incredibly aggressive. When we told her that we didn’t appreciate her tone or how rude she was being, she had disagreed with us and mentioned she would absolutely be charging us for the time we “used” the space. If she had approached us in a way that was kind and curious, and explained the situation in helpful way, we could have absolutely reasoned with her and reached a mutually beneficial resolution. We are all adults, we are very reasonable – I did let her know that we are happy to comply and will leave the space right away and even clean, but that she was being incredibly rude. After we had quickly moved everything to our cars, she had said she made a mistake and that we actually could have used the space until 6:00PM, which was ridiculous. Due to the misunderstanding, we kindly asked that we not be charged for the space and she just kept reiterating that she was in fact going to charge us, which was outrageous. And we were in fact charged.
This experience absolutely took away from the party and our time with family. We have been coming to pickle in the middle for months and often book multiple courts for multiple hours. We will think twice about returning or recommending this...
Read moreI am a regular patron of this establishment, visiting at least twice a month during the winter season with my family. We particularly enjoy booking multiple courts for my father's birthday celebrations, as we've always had positive experiences in the past.
This time, however, we encountered an issue that marred our otherwise enjoyable visit. Believing the 'party room,' where the only water fountain is located, to be a communal area—having observed many others using it for similar purposes—we brought in some food and drinks for our family. Shortly after, a staff member approached us. Her manner was unexpectedly stern and confrontational, informing us that the room needed to be booked and was not a communal space.
While we understand the policy and were quick to comply, cleaning up and vacating the room within ten minutes, the staff member's demeanor throughout the incident was unnecessarily rude. Additionally, there were no clear signs indicating the room's booking policy, which could have prevented the misunderstanding. To our dismay, we were also charged for the brief time we spent in the room, despite the situation.
Due to this experience and the manner in which it was handled, I am reconsidering my patronage of this establishment. I believe that clearer communication and signage regarding the room's policy, along with a more courteous approach to customer service, would greatly enhance the experience...
Read moreYesterday Larson Building rented the party room and five courts at Pickle in the Middle for our construction safety training combined with a team building event. The owners Laurent & Ann were fantastic to work with and our team enjoyed every minute of it. The courts were in great shape and their rental pickle ball paddles worked out awesome for the new players. We organized a company wide double elimination doubles tournament and the court layout worked perfectly. I would highly recommend Pickle in the Middle to other companies looking to host team building events. With our job superintendents located all across the Twin Cities the central location was key. Scheduling was seamless, easy and very affordable for the amount of fun that our entire team had. We...
