On Monday, November 16, 2020 I went to the Advantage Storage facility in Joshua Texas to obtain access to storage unit #156 that I had rented in June 2019. I no longer had access to this unit because my ex-husband had changed the gate-code and the lock on the unit containing our household goods in direct violation of our signed Mediation Settlement Agreement (MSA). The Advantage Storage office staff indicated I was no longer on the lease and therefore would not be provided access to unit 156 and that if I attempted to enter they would contact local authorities and I would be charged with trespassing. Because I had not authorized any changes to my lease I asked the office staff to provide a copy of my lease to which they indicated that the storage facility had undergone an ownership change in January 2020 and they no longer had access to these documents. I told the office staff that the change to the lease occured AFTER January 2020 and provided proof I had paid the rent on this unit using my personal credit card until August 2020. I asked if it was their practice to remove the primary lessee from a lease without that lessee's authorization to do so to which they indicated there was nothing they could do. I left a voicemail message for Jaimi Carbajal, Advantage Storage Regional Manager regarding my issue and never received a response.
As a result, I had to meet with my ex-husband in person to enter the unit. This meeting resulted in me contacting the local authorities in response to his threats to harm me.
DO NOT rent a storage unit from Advantage Storage. They do not honor the lessee rights and will allow anyone to make unauthorized changes...
Read moreOk, the place is really clean and nice, the people are nice, my only complaint is that you can reserve a unit online, pay for it, then you have to come in and fill out a paper application? What year is this again? 1999? You should have the option of entering all your info and then just walk in and identify yourself and sign the paperwork or better yet use Docusign and complete everything online and just come in and finish setting up gatecodes etc. That cost you guys 1 star, otherwise great place to store stuff.
Edit, lost another star for AGGRESSIVE lock out policy, fees and not having the office open on Sunday. Locked me out for being 10 days late, 10 DAYS! DANG, I could see if it was a month, 15 days maybe, or you just want more peoples stuff for Storage...
Read moreI can not express to you enough how incredibly sorry you will be if you use this facility. After 1 week of moving all of our belongings in, we were burglarized due to the facility leaving the empty unit next to ours unlocked. $6,000 worth of belongings were stolen/destroyed and conveniently the cameras don’t work. The employees have been incredibly u professional and I was cursed out and made fun of by assistant manager, Taryn. When I tried to make a complaint with the manager, she claims she was “sitting right next to Taryn” and never heard her say anything. So, if you want to be burglarized, vandalized and then cussed out and made fun of by the employees, rent here, because this is what you will get! And the manager is totally...
