Spend your time and money elsewhere. If it weren’t for Robert Irvine and the restaurant impossible team this establishment may have been given the chance to be ran by actual cooks and owners that care. Instead we’re stuck with whatever CW currently is; for now. I didn’t have the pleasure of eating here before the show revamped this joke of a restaurant. I wish I had to be able to compare this hogwash of an experience.
Walked in, treated like a tumbleweed by a woman on the phone named Sharon. Meanwhile the entire dining room is completely empty. While I waited I quickly understood the majority of their orders are pick up cause that phone never stopped ringing the 35 minutes I waited for my “food”. Even though the landline never quit ringing I viewed that as a great sign for good food to come. However now I’m viewing that as no one wants to actually eat in this environment but will tolerate the constant, “hold on, that’s an upcharge, wait I’m confused you wanted what?” Over and over on the phone in orders. Get someone that can hear to man the phones.
Getting into my order another server took my order. I initially wanted sour cream chicken enchiladas but I am not a fan of corn tortillas. I asked for flours, she informed me that’s a $2 up charge… opted out, ordered the chicken tacos al carbon since they are flour without an upcharge. I having never eaten here before asked for a sample of the sour cream sauce, she didn’t mention the “sample” is a 2oz cup of sauce for an up charge of $2… otherwise I would have declined… $19.14 for chicken tacos al carbon and a sample of sour cream sauce.
While I waited what appeared to be the owner decided to bring box after box after box of supplies for the restaurant in through the front door. Tomatoes, lettuce, burger patties, plastic cutlery(ironically enough, my togo order didn’t have cutlery or napkins) … etc he had just gotten in from Florida, he drove the entire way so he was tired. Oh and it rained on him 12 separate times along the drive.
It’s safe to say I will be enjoying my next meal as far from this establishment as possible.

Read moreI made two recent visits to this restaraunt. On the first visit it was two days before Robert Irvine dropped in to film Restaraunt: Impossible. The decor was very country/Texan themed and was abundant with… erm.. taxidermied animals! It was quite terrifying, and unfortunately the food was quite mediocre- flavorless and chewy. On my second visit, it was the first day of being open after Robert Irvine’s visit. Upon entering the restaraunt, there is a MASSIVE difference. It has transformed from an overly-decorated country cafe into a sleek, modern Tex-Mex style restaraunt! Booths were thankfully removed, making for an extraordinarily classy ambience- and as an added bonus, everything was CLEAN! We were greeted at our table by the amazingly sweet and talented waitress, Sharon! I am just astounded with her service, she is so sweet, and she recommended what I should eat when I had asked! Listening to Sharon’s advice, we had ordered the Pork Ribs which featured mango BBQ sauce, crema, and a pineapple slaw. The pork ribs were absolutely DIVINE, such tender meat and a wonderfully delicate flavor to satiate your hunger! As our second entree, we had ordered the Frito Pie. Sounds basic, right? It is most definitely not! It features an amazingly tender meat, queso fresco, and pickled onions! To top off the meal, we had ordered the lemon poppy cheesecake. Do not even get me started on how delicious this was! I’m beyond impressed with Robert Irvine & his teams work here at Fun Time Cafe. They did not think they needed it, but they truly did. I am excited to finally have a place in this small town that satisfies my...
Read moreWe grab street tacos anytime we get over this way by CW's in Joshua, TX. We might look over the menu but always choose barbacoa tacos! We tried other items from the menu a few times, but nothing beats out the juicy meat in these tacos! Plenty of meat, fresh or grilled onions, cilantro and lime. Served with beans and rice. The service has been good during our visits. Parking is a bit different. Only 3 or 4 parking spots in front, small driveway down side has motorcycle parking, and a small parking lot in back has a backdoor entrance that's not clearly marked. Back entrance is through an enclosed patio seating area that is humid and hot here in Texas, they have window AC in that area that is never turned on. Main dining area has a half wall divider that adds privacy for diners, but makes the room feel smaller. Decor is rustic, they have added fresh paint that really brightens the room. Restroom area us up a ramp that has an odd bump angle that would be hard for some walkers or wheelchair users. Overall great improvements and delicious foods with...
