Judge Stewart was apparently having a bad day and immediately began yelling at the defendant before they got even two words out while trying to defendant themselves. It's my understanding that a show cause hearing is where the defendant is supposed to be allowed to prove they had a reasonable cause for what they did (protecting a child from imminent danger). The judge didn't even let him show once piece of evidence, and the defendant brought plenty of evidence. The bias towards the other party "that the judge has known personally for a very long time outside of the court" was blatantly obvious. It's obvious that this bias hindered his ability to apply the due process of law fairly. Judges aren't supposed to preside over cases when there is an obvious conflict of interest, but that didn't stop him. I went in to try to keep the PPO against my neighbor, so she’d stop the horrible harassment against my family. The second Judge Stewart saw me, he decided he didn’t like us….for literally no reason. He was absolutely ROTTEN, a complete bully and wouldn’t even let me make my case. He screamed at me, several times, because he was simply in a terrible mood. It was totally uncalled for and incredibly inappropriate for a judge to treat us this way. He threw out the PPO, in minutes. So now, if something happens to me or my kids, it’s Matthew J Stewart’s fault, because he had a bad day and took it out on us. SHAME ON YOU! There is something deeply wrong with the security there. They either can be nice and friendly. Or just plain rude and abusing authority. I understand you have to do your job but when you start acting like everyone that walks in there is a criminal than you aren’t doing it correctly. This was the second time I had went to the court for friend of the court and was questioned like I had done something wrong. And all I was doing was trying to pay them.
