San Simeon Pier — Local services in Cambria

Before covid my 88 yr old parents came t to visit from El Paso TX. I drove them and my sister's to San simeon. I took some steaks to grill by the 🌴 beach. They absolutely loved it, they lived in Burbank for 18 years back in the 1990s, but they hadn't been up north except to Santa Rosa where my boy's and I lived for 3 yrs. They definitely enjoyed Napa Valley as well, they had the opportunity to enjoy the many beautiful 🍷 winerys, I also drove them back to Bodega Bay which of course is a sight to see. Sam Simeon is perfect to grill and relax after enjoying a delicious steak, it's small and usually not super packed. The restrooms are clean and the walk to the beach and Pier are close by to enjoy. My Mom is on a wheel chair so it's great to be within close distance for her to easy access and a great view from the picnic area. Absolutely worth the 2 HR drive from...

I'll add a time lapse on the pier. One of better places to come and enjoy in San Simeon. The place has a nearby Museum for for the tourists with detailed info about the sea life at this place. The location also has tables at least 10 to come in and enjoy the any picnics or food that you have brought. If you would like to go on a hike there is a hike on the right side of the pier which takes you along for you to enjoy the view from the coastline. Located just across the scenic California Hwy 1 and the famous Hearst Castle, the pier, picnic area and white sand beaches are totally worth a visit. We have once even seen 5 magnificent whales breaching entirely out of the water on 3 sides of us on the pier, as they set about scattering a large ball of feeder fish in the shallow waters (and as hundreds of sea birds were diving into the water for any fish or scraps missed by the whales).
