We stopped here on our way down from San Francisco to Morro Bay to watch the sunset. It was absolutely beautiful to watch the sun set on the west coast. We are from NJ and you need to get up pretty early to see the sun rise. Glad we stopped. Otherwise we would have missed our chance to see the sun set on the beautiful Pacific Ocean.

Must stop, and see along Hwy1 of Big Sur at San Simon where William Randolph Hearst started it all. 🌟If you love the History of the Land, and how he Mr. Hearst preserved it, then stop, and get educated at his Theatre, and visit the Castle also. You will enjoy it❣

I have been in and around the ocean most of my life and had never seen a Elephant Seal. There are 2 Elephant Seal viewing areas just north of San Simeon. 1 warning - There are lots of tiny ticks, so be sure to wear pants and/or tick repellent. My dog and I stayed on the paths the best we could. I spotted a tick on me later and one on the dog a week later. But the sights are worth the...

Perfect "pull off the road" stop with incredible ocean views and only about one mile south of Elephant Seal Beach....and it's lovely aroma! LOL I love watching the seals but sometimes the stench can be overwhelming if the wind is right and the day is warm I you just want a break after the hair-raising drive through Big Sur this is a great spot to relax for a...
