Had a great experience at lunch with work colleagues, so I thought I would bring my wife for dinner when we had free time. Not sure what happened between the last time I was there (great food/friendly attentive service), but our dinner (experience) was underwhelming. I had the rib-eye relleno. Based on the description, is sounded good, but I would not recommend (turned out to be about 5 bites of steak smothered in a plate of cheese, rather than cheese stuffed in a rib-eye). My wife had the beef medallions which turned out to be great. Aside from the food, the waitress was either having a bad day, or just seemed like she didn't want to be working on a Friday night. The second my wife sat down, the waitress was asking for her order...without a chance to review the menu. We found dried food stuck on one of our forks, and the waitress seemed put off that we asked for a clean replacement. Dinner rolls, which were touted on the menu and website, were omitted from our order, and the chance to request steak sauce never happened. Once our food was presented, that was the last we saw of our server until she brought the check (which she never picked up, or mentioned that we were to pay at the front desk.) We did mention some of these issues with the ladies at the front desk when paying, and to give them a ton of credit, they were open and understanding to the issues, and tried to make things right. For the record, I'm one who usually does not give many reviews, and when I have an extremely positive experience, I'll make sure those involved get credit for what they have done. Also, for those who might see me as nitpicking, or a jerk, I am always polite to people, especially those who are bringing me food. I just think at 30-40 bucks a head for dinner, that these issues should...
Read moreMy husband works out of town from time to time. He is a plumber and he is plumbing the new O'Reilly s in Canadian TX. Each time he has gone and come home he has just bragged about "The Cattle Exchange" restaurant. He said it is the " The best food you will ever put in your mouth" (that is a big statement ) so needless to say I have been dying to try it. So, right before Christmas my great grandmother passed away. The funeral is in Amarillo TX. I knew I absolutely had to go the extra 2 hours out of our way and try this place out. When he said it was the"Best food you will ever put in your mouth "that was a under statement! This restaurant was the Bomb!! The best by far!!!!! I had the brisket enchiladas. They melted in my mouth. And as if the food wasn't good enough they give everyone bread pudding at the end of your meal, it was so tasty. The building is a sight for sore eyes for sure. In the middle of down town. Very clean and very well put together. A lot of old antiques. The staff was awesome! The whole experience was worth every extra mile we drove to get there!! Great Job Cattle Exchange!!! We will be back. Thank you for your great service and excellent food. They followed all guidlines for Co-vid. I felt...
Read moreEdit since whoever replied didn't read correctly. The slow/bad service isn't because they just reopened. It's been like that every single time we've gone including before they closed due to the fire Don't go unless you have 2-3 hours to spare. Everything takes FOREVER. We had gone a couple times before they closed temporarily and the staff was always nice but the service was really slow. We thought we'd try it again since it just reopened from fixing some fire damage and thought maybe they finally fixed the issue and maybe just revamped their system or something but it's still really slow. I'm not really sure why because every time we've gone there's hardly any customers there and way more staff than what places with the same amount of patrons usually have. The first few times we went the food was not bad. This last time we went it was awful. My boyfriend and I just split 1 burrito and it took 45 mins to cook (not counting the hour it took for her to even come take our order), and the steak inside was like liquid smoke flavored chewing gum. Also charge way too much for well drinks that are like 3 ounces. The water tastes like boiled horse hooves. The other restaurant they have in town is so much better so stick...
