I woud give this place 10 stars if i could! they are amazing! I have a laptop for business I bought in 2008, so yeah, its old, but it's a beast. Over time, like they do- the laptop was failing in bits and pieces. I had to buy a cooling fan to aleviate an over heating problem. The battery stopped holding a charge so it was plugged in all the time. The Wi-fi failed so I had to be physically connected to the Internet. This was a 17 inch inch laptop and Its been the backbone of my business since I purchased it from HP in 2008. HP Tech Services couldn't figure out the Wi-Fi issue and urged me to replace the Wi-Fi card or just buy a new laptop (at a replacement cost of $799.00).
I'm not from Indianapolis, I was in town on business. I found Indy Laptops in a Google search and stopped to buy a new power cord. We got to talking and Jean started asking me about the laptop- what had I done to maintain it, what did I want to do with it, etc,. Step by step, Jean took me through how they could help my baby. I opted for a diagnostic package to physically clean out the interior of the case, clean up the OS and the Hard Drive and trouble shoot the Wi-Fi.
I got a call from Jean THE NEXT DAY that it was ready (I was amazed) Im used to it taking a week because its get sent out, blah, blah. NOT SO INDY LAPTOPS0 they do it all right on site. Turns out is wasn't failing in bits and pieces- just needed a little love. Jean ran down what they had done and the things they found. Turns out the cooling fan inside the case was clogged, so it was over heating, the power supply from HP was the WRONG ONE. The power supply was under powering the unit- so that was contributing to the over heating AND the Wi-Fi failure and why the battery wasn't charging. That is what killed the battery. After they got done making all the repairs, a proper power supply and adjustments, my Laptop worked better than it has in years.
FOR A THIRD the cost of a new Laptop I had a fully functional 17 inch Laptop, 3.2 Ghz duo core with Functioning Wi-Fi again. I was so happy, I asked Jean if I could send them another laptop to resurect. When I returned home to Minneapolis, I shipped another laptop with similar issues and they fixed that one as well! I could not be happier with my experience. The cost of their serivces were very reasonable. Do not over look this place! Excellent personal service, their techs are knowledgeable too! You wont be...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis review is rather long, but worth the read. My charging port starts to go bad in my laptop so I take it into BestBuy with the intentions of having a $100 to $200 out of pocket repair. They said it could take 2 to 4 weeks to be repaired and sent back to me. They send it off and then email me the next day saying they need to replace the motherboard for $818 plus tax in order to further diagnose the charging issue. What!?? The computer is not even a year old. Its crazy since it was working just fine except for the charge issue. After a week and speaking with at least 4 people at the call center or whatever it is and 3 people at the store... I finally get an answer.... On the 7th day a guy from BestBuy calls me saying they need me to decline or accept repairs. I briefly tell the guy what is going on and how I am so confused about what they actually think is wrong with my computer because when it left my hands and went into theirs it was fine... except for the charging issue. This guy was very helpful and explained to me that the only vendor they can get the part from only sells the AC adapter (or charge port) that is already attached to a motherboard, that the vendor does not have just the individual part. So.... BestBuy tried to charge me an unnecessary $700 just because they could not get access to the individual part needed and did not wan to tell me that. ARE YOU SERIOUS! And it took sooo long to get a straight answer as to why they were trying to replace it to begin with! I took it to Indy Laptops. It took them less than three hours to fix it and for only $135! I am now at home writing this review from my perfectly fine laptop. They were very kind and helpful! In conclusion- 2-4 weeks and $818+ at BestBuy vs 2 hours 45 minutes and $135 at Indy Laptops... Hmmmm, such a...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreMy HP work laptop needed a battery replacement. There was an extra screw holding the battery in place that was beyond my ability to remove.
The first establishment I went to for help was unable to remove the screw as well. They suggested that I go to Indy laptops.
Google Maps was used to help me locate Indy Laptops. The directions on my phone took me directly to what I learned was their new location.
The entire experience with Indy Laptops was fantastic! I went later in the day with the intention that I might have to leave my laptop for pick up another day. The gentleman there immediately realized they needed a tool they didnāt have at their new location. One man left the property to retrieve the necessary tool, while the other man prepared the laptop by wrapping it with a protective film. When the man and the proper tool arrived, they were quickly able to remove the now severely stripped screw, replace the nonfunctional battery, recycle the old battery, reassemble the laptop, and verify that the laptop was indeed once again functional.
All of this was accomplished in a very short period of time. Their diligence in doing the job well and competence to get the job done quickly was very much appreciated. The laptop was repaired on the spot. I was able to make my evening plans having the peace of mind that I would not need to return another day to pick up the laptop.
Indy Laptops was highly professional from start to finish. They definitely will have all of my future business with any laptop problems that...
