This review is for the outlet location on 6 St SW of Cedar Rapids. Please copy this review and share it again if you agree on the provided points.
Please provide free wifi for the visitors, a lot of them are from out of town to shop there. The other day a lady didn't have enough signals or service in her phone there. She couldn't call her ride to pick her up. And her driver would not answer unknown numbers. So this is more of a safety issue for the shoppers.
Thank you Goodwill for providing this outlet to our area as many families can benefit from it. I have a very important notice that is a win win situation for everyone. It is in the interested and the benefit for all of us that things get sold and move out of the bins for people to use as fast as possible.
1* It it going to help the environment and save tons of materials to go to waist. This is the most important goal to all of us indeed to have a cleaner environment.
2* Good will will keep providing the community with what they need in affordable prices, which will not keep anyone left behind without fulfilling their family needs.
3* It is a definite success for Goodwill to get rid of most if not all of the donations, specially the bigger and heavier items. As i was in the cedar Rapids outlet yesterday, a bedding that is a Walmart brand i wanted to buy for a family, it was heavy and i would be charged for it $11 for it after they weighed it. I tried to ask for adjustment of price but it was rejected. If you get rid or all your bedding, rugs, heavy kitchen items, pans, tools and construction materials and paper materials that are not books which would cost a lot on the scale. This is going to reduce the amount of effort that the good will employees will spend to recycle the UN ought items , people will indeed benefit specially the unfortunate ones, the landfill will get less items, the environment will be cleaner. Making money is not the only factor in your wonderful organization, that has wonderful people that are running it and working on serving it.
For the outlet store.
Small improvement notes are: The restroom needs ventilation fan for sure, hand sanitizer, and warm running water in the sink, otherwise we might end up with some people not washing their hands.
People come to shop at your wonderful outlet from hundreds of miles away. Please add enough comfy seats, and trash cans around the store. The benches are not enough, not comfy, and the walls at the back of the benches are extremely cold since they are concrete. People drive from all round to come and shop for hours here. They need to sit during the long hours of shopping to keep the energy during the shopping process.
I would like everyone to know that this store is a wonderful one of a kind dig for treasures place. You will find anything you can think of. It would be great if you have more carts for the busy days. Thank you for your wonderful organization and all the services it provides to...
Read moreNot your "normal" goodwill this place is unsorted goods dumped into bins and is super cheap! $1.69 per pound!! Every so often they call out over the intercom they are placing new bins and people crowd around them to rummage the good stuff they provide reusable bags just grab one and fill it up. They have scales all around to weigh your loot. You can also fill a cart and they will weigh it up like that minus the tare weight of the cart. Come early and make a day of it! JUST DONT FORGET TO BRING GLOVES THEY ARE REQUIRED!! SOME ITEMS IN BINS ARE SHARP! I found a tape dispenser for packing tape and have used one as a saw once! Be careful and watch for others digging for gold ! It gets crazy!!! While I was there today a guy got minecraft for Xbox one for free because it didn't weigh on the scale and I said to the checkout person to place it on the scale with the next person's items! You never know what you will find here! I got a Pizza Hut cartop sign at the one in Fort Worth Texas for less than 5 bucks and swapped it for a large pizza!!! Today I got a black light flashlight with dead batteries that worked! They have amazon returns!!! 2 bucks for all that stuff below, I wonder what lego set...
Read moreI absolutely love hunting through the bins at goodwill outlet, I could spend all day here!
It's not a typical goodwill - at goodwill outlets, you dig though huge blue bins with random items inside. These bins are rotated every hour or so. Gloves are required for safety so bring your own (or you can buy a new pair of gloves there for $1.99). Items are sold by weight so ignore any prices that may still be on the items in the bins (the only individually priced items are the really big bulky/furniture items near the back corner of the store). Items are sold at $1.49/pound; paperback books are 25 cents each and hardcover books are 50 cents each.
There are a lot of regulars that go here (you can tell by how organized/prepared they seem to be) but as long as you follow the rules (don't take things from other people's carts, don't touch the covered freshly rotated bins until the sheet is taken off by an employee, wear your gloves) you won't have any issues! It's dirty but it's TONS of fun looking for treasure and getting clothes for the lowest...
