My partner Kate Rotherham and I had a closet designed and installed about 3 years ago. First and foremost, the closet is holding up well and is very well designed. When it was originally installed, we had a few problems with the installers; they were unprofessional, dirty, and left unsanitary trash behind in the restroom. We just recently wanted to add four more shelves to the existing closet design, which your company told us was no problem. The first appointment we had was scheduled between 1:00-4:00 p.m.; at 4:30 p.m., the installers called to let us know they would be late. I understand this happens but having taken time off from work to meet them, it is frustrating. When the installers arrived with the shelves, the shelves were clearly the wrong size and they wouldn’t fit the intended area. I cleared out the entire closet in order for the installers to work. When it was determined that the shelves were wrong and wouldn’t fit, I asked them to leave the bad shelves so I could put the closet back together. I ended up cutting them myself and had to support the shelves with water bottles as fixtures lol ;-) !! and then I was able to put everything back while we waited for the right shelves to be installed properly. Last night the company returned to complete the work requested on my closet; I was again provided an arrival window of 1:00-4:00 p.m. and the installers arrived at 4:00 p.m.; the installers were personable and worked diligently, although they clearly had not received appropriate training in order to complete the job properly. They seemingly did not know how to measure the shelve length properly and did not want to use the existing shelves as a template, as suggested; after several miscuts, I finally provided them with a template to use; by the time they left, the electrical outlet out front is broken (which the worker admitted doing); the closet walls are damaged from so many failed installation attempts, as is the closet facia; when cutting a board over the rug in the bedroom, shelf fragments/debris was embedded in the rug and they dropped tools on hardwood floor, which resulted in damage. One of the most aggravating parts of the process is when the installers have finished the job, they hand the client a form regarding how well the job was done. It puts the client in an awkward position given the installers did the best they could given the training they had been provided. We completed the form indicating the job was done well and that we would be comfortable referring the company to others, but wanted to ensure what happened is noted.

This was our second Closet Factory installation! We had our first one about five years ago in a different house, so we already knew they’d do a great job. The install team was professional, friendly, and respectful of our space. The finished product is beautiful and exactly what we hoped for. The whole process from design to installation was smooth and well-communicated. The designer who came out initially was also incredibly kind and knowledgeable and really helped bring our vision to life. Definitely worth the wait!

Working with Marcela and her team was fantastic! She is a very detailed designer with an amazing eye for arranging spaces. We did four closets together and one art room wall with drawers and shelves for supplies. It is such an improvement to the look of the space and also functional. Her designs for the two small closets added so much needed storage and elevated the Primary Bedroom closet to another level. I am so grateful that I worked with Marcela and you will too.

Took me months of calming down to write this review.

Worst experience for a service I have ever had... and no I am not being dramatic. I saw all these great reviews and I hoped that I would be many of the satisfied customers. I was not.

After a great initial design appointment I eagerly awaited the arrival of my two closets and bench for a mudroom. Then a while passed and I recieved an update that the date would be pushed back due to product shortage because of COVID.

Totally understandable, it's been a difficult time for companies because of that.

Finally after several months of waiting we got our things installed! But things were not as they should be... after being rushed to sign the papers I noticed that there was gray caulk smeared all over the walls. I asked the installer if the caulk will dry clear. He told me "don't touch that" and left. I was so taken back I was sure he just misunderstood me and everything would be okay!

At first glance the job looked well done. Then I noticed on one of the cabinet doors that there was a good chunk of wood missing up high. I called my designer (Dana) to see what to do for this issue. She told me she would get in contact with the installers an let me know. Five minutes later she calls me back and told me they had already noticed it and requested a replacement door. (Would have been a nice thing for them to tell me)

Then I noticed several other things wrong with the installation. Parts were not flush. A bucket of wood shavings left under the bench. The trim was shoddily cut into. Dings and scrapes everywhere.

I called Dana again and showed her the pictures of everything. Then she told me she would talk to management to see what they could do. And that this was unacceptable. (No kidding)

We had wanted to use closet factory to update our laundry room which is adjacent to the mudroom. After this unfortunate event we quickly decided against that. We took it upon ourselves to move one of the closets into the laundry room where we needed the storage. Upon removing ONE SCREW the entire contraption collapsed on top of us. After cleaning up the blood, broken wood and inspecting the many new scrapes in our room. It turns out 3/4 of the screws were not anchored to the wall.

After a bit Dana reached back out and said that they were going to redesign the bench to fit better. I honestly didn't even care at this point. The experience had been so bad I would rather eat the thousands of dollars than have them come back out. But I was convinced to let them fix their problems and that the family run business was all about customer satisfaction.

Cut to a few months later they come back out to install the new and improved bench that looks nothing like we wanted originally. Spoiler alert... it wasn't a much better experience. Most of the problems were left. There was still gray caulk smudges all along the wall. A shoddy attempt to fix the trim they messed up. Screws just left in the wall. At this point I REALLY did not care. I wanted these people out of my house.

At the end of the day I just asked for $150 to fix everything myself. I have had alot of installations made to houses over the years but this by far was the WORST. I would have rather gone to IKEA and paid way less for something that would have been way better.

I would like to say that Dana was a great designer/person who worked with us the entire time we were struggling through this process. So I guess...

Closet of Dreams

After fighting with our piecemeal closet solution for a dozen years we finally decided to have a custom designed, tailored to our needs, closet built. After a quick review of companies available in the Denver area we settled on Closet Factory. We scheduled an appointment through Closet Factory’s Costco program and soon we met with Cheryl Metzger. Cheryl arrived at our house in the evening, on time and ready to go. First, she surveyed the disaster that was our closet (see before picture), then she took careful measurements of the closet. We discussed our needs with her at a high level. Cheryl took an inventory of our clothes from shoe counts to width and height of hanging clothes and even considered the depth of the garments. She noticed dress counts, both short and long and measured the maximum height for our unique closet. It felt like Cheryl was seeing our dreams from our perspective. We spent about an hour and a half with Cheryl in this initial process. Then Cheryl went to work on our custom 3D design. Soon Cheryl called us in to the Closet Factory showroom and construction facility in Englewood. The CF software allowed us to view the closet from every angle and walk through the closet virtually. Cheryl also took me on a tour of the construction area showing me the cabinets are made right there in the CF building. They even keep your designs forever in case you want to update, add or otherwise change anything in the future. Fortunately, Cheryl was patient with us as my wife and I had quite a few tweaks for her design including changing the height of the island, varying the depth of the cabinets and choosng the colors for the countertops and island. The great thing about CF’s cabinets is they allow for any height you might need and many different depths to accommodate shoes, pants, shirts, dresses, etc. After a few design changes we settled on the final design, approved it and scheduled our installation dates. Promptly, on a snowy and bitterly cold day in January, the installers – Reggie and Eneidy arrived. They laid down blankets on the floor and stairs and went to work hauling up all the parts for their installation needs. Reggie and Eneidy were extremely professional, worked very diligently to install our new closet. This included the extended top shelf, kickplate & molding to match seamlessly. I was very impressed with their ability to tie everything together without noticeable gaps or lines. They finished the work in two long days. They cleaned up the closet both days and completely wiped down all surfaces, including our hardwood floor at the end of the install. My wife and I were eager to see the final product and guess what, Cheryl stopped by just before they were done to be with us for the unveiling of our Closet of Dreams. We were so impressed with the finished closet we were almost in tears. We did ask for a tweak to move our clothes hamper from one side of the island to the other which the installation crew took care of in a few minutes. I think Reggie's middle name is "Yes". As you can see from the before and after pictures, the transformation is amazing. Thank you to Cheryl, Reggie, Eneidy and Closet Factory for a job well done. My wife and I highly recommend this team for your custom closet design and...
