I've now worked with John and his team on two projects -- an upgrade of almost every window in the house, and a tear-out of the carpet in the entire house and replacement with laminate flooring through most of the house.
My previous windows were majority single pane metal framed and had been installed on a manufactured home without being fully inset into the framing. There were two vinyl, double paned windows that had been improperly installed without flashing, that I intended to keep and initially had no plans to re-do. John was the only contractor out of a small handful who pointed out to me the errors and offered to re-do them.
When his team did so, they found some water damage around the framing of one of the windows that they then replaced. In the course of the job, they also identified a part of the floor that had significant moisture damage from the condensation of a single pane sliding door. They replaced that too.
They trimmed all the windows in a new style and fully flashed them, including the ones they re-installed. The entire project looks great, the team worked quickly and efficiently, and I know my energy bills are going to go down significantly with the upgrade. John came himself to pick up the construction debris after the windows were finished -- a personal touch I appreciate.
On the flooring job, John worked with my budget and identified several steps I could take to help keep costs lower. His crew worked hard over a several day span to complete my project prior to a housewarming I had already scheduled. His team dealt with a significant amount of unexpected complexity, replacing parts of the floor that had old moisture damage, treating corners with mold killing primer, managing a flooring transition from one style of flooring to another, and shuffling a bunch of my stuff around repeatedly.
They showed me what they were doing at each step, pointing out areas to work on in the future as my budget allows and explaining how they were treating and dealing with problems. The finished project looks phenomenal, I am incredibly happy with it, and it is much more appropriate and easy to clean for the kind of wear and tear I expect the house will get from friends, kids, and dogs.
I appreciate all of the excellent hard work that John and his team put into my house and I hope to work with them again on...
Read moreI highly recommend Hub City Supply for all your home projects. When I first bought my home, my sister and I were here cleaning before I moved in. I realized the floor in the kitchen was ‘moving’. I picked up a corner of it and discovered water! Yikes! I called my Realtor and she recommended I call Hub City Supply. I called and John, the owner, came over and discovered water under the entire floor. To make a long story short, he ripped out all the old flooring and put fans on the sub-floor to dry it. He also fixed the plumbing problem under the sink! I went to the store to pick out flooring and Emily was a huge help. She showed me different samples that would be suitable for a kitchen. I chose a couple then brought them home to see how they looked. It was easy to find a match. The very next week John brought over all the supplies and Yancy started laying the flooring! The job was done quickly and efficiently. Yancy cleaned everything to perfection, ready to move in! After moving in, I realized the back porch was in need of repair. I thought, how about a deck! I called John and he came over to make measurements as we had discussed. The wood was ordered, the crew showed up, and I had a deck within a week! It’s beautiful! Jamie, Yancy and Rick were the team with Rick working on his own a couple of days. After the wood had settled, Jamie came back, sanded the corners and applied a sealant. It’s beautiful!! The next project: The windows on the front porch. Again, John came over to measure then ordered the windows. After they delivered them, Yancy started installation. The end windows are sliders and the front are picture windows. What a beautiful addition! Another thing about Hub City Supply is, they are local, which I like, the crew are hard workers, neat and tidy. Last but not least, their prices are very reasonable!! Thank you so much to the entire team! Jill...
Read moreI had the pleasure of working with John and Sybol for about 3 months. My little home incident started as a small water leak from my refrigerator, well long story not so short is how I ended up with extensive new flooring, countertops, garbage disposal, sink and under my sink plumbing and flooring redone. I’ll get right to it and say if I could give 10 out of 5 stars I would!!!! These two took me under their wing at a time when I was really working outside of my box. Home owners insurance, finding a contractor how overwhelming this was to a single woman, first time home owner. Sybol set me down and patiently walked me through picking out material ( flooring, countertops, etc) while John in his , ( ever so ) and I mean, ever so timely manner was over at my house getting busy demoing and prepping so we could order material and have it there in a timely manner. This brings me to the crews that they hire to work for them. I always felt comfortable having them in my home because they respected myself and my home. The work the did was second to none and never left the job on a daily basis until the work was done. John always had good communication and was on time if not early just like his team. I felt compelled to right this review because way too often only the bad reviews are written. Hub City Supply is a company that if you choose to go with I can honestly say you will never regret. All of the horror stories I had ever heard about contractors just took a hit with this experience I had . It’s nice to know there’s still some good guys out there! Thank you John for all your hard work and Thank you Sybol for all...
