Oh I don't even know where to start or what to say—this sweet little bookstore is honestly one of my favorite places in Chapel Hill. The staff is the absolute best—so friendly, so knowledgeable, and always ready with the perfect book recommendation (even when you have no idea what you’re looking for). The selection is amazing, with a mix of new and used books, plus tons of quirky little gifts that make it impossible to walk out empty-handed.

But what really makes this place special is how much they care—about books, about people, about the community. They support local schools, give back in so many ways, and have created this warm, welcoming space where everyone—especially the LGBTQ+ community—can feel safe and valued. It’s not just a bookstore; it’s a place that feels like home. If you love books, good people, and good vibes, you will LOVE it here as...

Hard to believe Flyleaf Books has only been around four years because they feel like they've been part of the Chapel Hill community for decades, like a trusty friend you turn to for advice. In their case the advice comes in the form of books for kids, for adults and for cooks (they host a monthly meeting of CHOP NC, Culinary Historians of the Piedmont, as well as cookbook authors when they come to visit the Triangle on book tours). The L-shaped store shelves are lined with books covering every imaginable genre but don't walk past the display tables that feature staff picks because that's where you'll find the real gems. If you're a book lover, you should really consider the store membership (a lifetime membership for a one time fee, good for everyone in your household) to get discounts and invites to special...

*June 18, 2025 Review Update: I gifted myself a copy of this wonderful book to continue learning more about Native Nations. Thank you Flyleaf for shipping it to me and Dr. Kathleen DuVal for signing it. 🫶🏽🙏🏽😊

This was my first time at this lovely bookstore. The staff were professional, friendly, and attentive. I thoroughly enjoyed the conversation, book signing, and reading with these beautiful and brilliant ladies. Pictured: Host: Barbara, co-authors of the book, Rebecca, Not Becky; Christine Platt and Catherine Wigginton Greene. Not pictured: beautiful and brilliant ladies in the audience with yours truly. I wish both of you a continued amazing tour and success!...

I feel I have found my 2nd home. Immediately being welcomed and help by the staff, the cozy atmosphere with fireplaces in all sitting areas, the smell of coffee and the books surrounding you in every room. The only thing stopping me from not moving in is the lack of cats 😉 truly a great experience. 10/10 recommend spending an afternoon drinking espresso martinis, eating delicious food and cozying up on a couch with a good book!

A fabulous independent bookstore in Chapel Hill. A book talk was led by local author Sara Dessen about “Not Like Other Girls”, the debut YA novel by Meredith Adamo. It had a standing room only crowd. The staff was well prepared and knowledgeable. It was great day to be surrounded by books, authors and friends.
