I would not recommend this apartment complex to anyone who cares about rules...... The management does not seem to make any effort in enforcing the rules that are in place and when I have addressed it with them they stated it was hard for them to enforce their own rules and that they expect the residence of the community to help them enforce them.... I pay over $2500.00 dollars a month to live in this place so I do not expect to have to do the managements job for them. So lets talk about what rules they don't seem to have the ability to enforce....... This is supposed to be a "NON SMOKING" community but nearly every day I walk my dog on the property I see individuals smoking both in the common areas as well as their own porches. Also at any given time in the summer at the pool people are smoking. Lets talk about the pool..... I was told by management when I signed my lease that the pool would be heated by April of 2016 which never happened (LIE) The rules at the pool are also rarely enforced like the smoking issue, glass in the pool area, and dogs "IN" the pool. Also the pool seems to be used by everyone BUT the residence. They handed out wrist bands last summer for residence and their guests to wear at the pool yet I never saw anyone wearing them and I never saw management checking to make sure the people using the facility I pay a lot of money for to use are actually supposed to be there. I was also told that a grill would be put behind building 500 where I live and that never happened (LIE) I was also told that I could not keep my boat on the property and yet there have been several boats stored on the property while I as well as others have to pay to keep our boats else where..... Here is the big one for me..... DOGS, DOGS, and more DOGS 2 issues here..... I have a dog and I love dogs, as a matter of fact my dog is a SERVICE DOG for my post traumatic stress but even after providing the management with more documentation then I am required to provide by ADA the company still made me may a pet deposit and a monthly pet fee which is a clear and concise violation of the American Disabilities Act!!! I have not pushed the issues because I some battles I just chose not to fight. So when I take my dog for a walk I always have her on a lease and I always clean up after her which is apparently very rare..... I normal have to step over dog crap to clean up my dog puts down and that includes in the dog park as well, again just another rule they don't make any effort to enforce. As far as keeping your dog on a leash there are a few residence that don't choice to adhere to that rule which is a problem for me..... Their dogs are not aggressive they just like to do what most dogs like to do and that is make other dog friends..... The problem is my dog does not like to make friends and she is very protective of me and she is aggressive with other dogs and people who approach me which is part of her job. I then have to pick her up to prevent injury to another dog or herself when the a dogs run up to her on when the are not being controlled by their owners. I guess I could keep on going with issues like dirty stair wells, poorly maintained landscaping around buildings other than the ones around the pool area, etc. I would not have so many complaints if the rent was not so high and if they didn't call this place a "LUXARY APARTMENT COMPLEX" but they do so they should live up to the standard they set and expect me to abided by. That's my 2 cents, if you decide to sign a lease and give these people your hard earned money make sure you set you expectations very low so you wont be as disappointed as me and my family have...

Nestled in a convenient location on Folly Road, Spyglass Seaside offers a range of desirable amenities that aim to enhance the living experience. However, the frequent and substantial rent increases have left some residents feeling uneasy, despite the positive aspects the complex has to offer.
One of the standout features of Spyglass is the array of amenities provided. From a well-equipped fitness center to a sparkling swimming pool and beautifully landscaped common areas, the complex offers residents opportunities for relaxation and recreation. The presence of an on-site laundry facility and somewhat sufficient parking spaces are also convenient additions that make daily life a little easier.
The apartment units themselves are generally well-maintained and spacious, with modern appliances and attractive finishes. The management team is often prompt in addressing maintenance requests, ensuring that residents can enjoy a hassle-free living environment. Up until lately the complex also boasted a responsive and friendly leasing staff that is willing to assist with any concerns or inquiries.
However, one significant drawback of Spyglass is the yearly rent increases. While it is not uncommon for rents to rise annually in South Carolina the magnitude of the increases at this complex has become a cause for concern among residents. The steep hikes in rent as much as 30% can strain the budgets of long-term tenants, making it difficult for them to continue living in the complex comfortably.
It is worth noting that amenities and current market alone cannot justify such substantial rent increases. While the provided amenities contribute to a higher quality of life, they should be balanced with fair and reasonable rent prices to ensure resident satisfaction and long-term retention.
In conclusion, Spyglass offers a range of desirable amenities and generally well-maintained apartments. The presence of a responsive management team and convenient facilities adds value to the living experience. However, the yearly rent increases, which are significantly higher than expected, dampen the overall appeal of the complex. It is crucial for the new management to consider more moderate and transparent rental adjustments to maintain tenant satisfaction and foster a positive living...
Read moreI lived at Seaside over a year ago and originally decided to live there because I had several friends who also lived there too. The apartments are new so I figured there couldnât be much to complain about. Well, I was wrong. I had so many issues with their online payment system that I just started paying by money order every month- Iâm out of town often for work so this was a pretty big inconvenience however, it was the only way I could ensure that I wouldnât be fined anymore for their poor management.
This place is dog friendly, however quite a few people didnât follow the rules and picked up their dog poop so I found myself having to watch where I walked because there was so much poop. Youâd think theyâd hire a better grounds keeper or something if they had so many tenants blatantly disobeying the rules.
Their club house/pool is beautiful but they have a two guest policy that they strictly enforce. You couldnât enter the pool without your pool area bracelet or have your guest with you without them wearing the guest bracelet. If you lost the plastic bracelet it was like 50 bucks to replace. What a joke.
The leasing office staff is friendly, however I couldnât say the same for the pool security. An older women who was working security the weekend of the last eclipse (August 2017) said a racial slur to my friend in front of everyone⊠not cool.
I only write my negative review now all this time after I moved out, because I was recently contacted by a collection agency about a sizable amount I owed to Spyglass. I was told I didnât have any further fees and even received my deposit back when I moved out... fast forward over a year later and Iâm getting calls from debt collectors saying I owe spyglass money⊠this is the first Iâm hearing of this. Supposedly I left something (they couldnât tell me what) behind in the apartment and they said the apartment wasnât cleaned (not true). Not really sure why they couldnât give me a call to resolve it a year ago when all this supposedly happened. I feel like Iâm being scammed.
Save yourself some grief and live somewhere else...
