I am frequently at this Y.
On Sunday August 6, 2023 I was at the Y until what is posted online via google, as 6pm closing time. However, as I was leaving the gymnasium the gentleman who usually works in there (as of at least three months ago) and who was working that day, said to me specifically that the Y closes at 6pm, but they close the gymnasium down at 4:45pm to have it locked down by 5pm. Alright no problem. It was approximately a quarter till five at that time. Others who knew this were preparing to leave as well. Since the online posted close time was 6pm, I go and jump in the shower, brush teeth and all as I usually do. About five to seven minutes prior to me finishing my shower, I hear a male voice say “we’re closed”. I immediately respond, “a guy just told me that closing time is six o’clock”. Ironically, it was him. So did he just lie, is he playing games or what’s going on is what I’m wondering. So I just don’t respond. Then just a few minutes later I hear a female voice say we’re closed. My response is the same [mind you I’m still trying to take a peaceful shower], “a guy told me you all close at 6pm”. I didn’t much hear her response because i’m just trying to shower and all before I leave. After done showering I brush my teeth and proceed to my locker and am getting dressed when I hear a female voice from out in the hallway, “are you almost done”? Finally, I’m dressed, walk out of the locker room and there they both are sitting there and I discuss this issue with them including letting them know they were trying to make me feel rushed at the hand of your own negligence. Not acceptable.
I’m sparing any further detail on the conversation as I will speak to management about this. But I did feel the need to let it be known.
Please make sure employees are aware of operating hours. If running or representing a business or entity, conducting business, operation, or the like, please understand that when a mishap takes place and you are the negligent party, it is now on you to acknowledge it (which they did [although I had to verbally highlight it]), but then you must now be more understanding and basically be even more receptive of your client/customer’s needs (in this case the need not to give a perception of trying to rush, at this...
Read moreWe walked in, thinking we would have a great time. The first thing we were greated with was two workers, having a conversation, when we walked up to them, they ignored us for a solid 5 minutes, and finished their conversation. We walked to the "waterpark" entrance. I , a 15 year old female, was greeted with a girmey dirty, smelly, and wet locker room. I looked around to find a private spot to change but couldn't fine one. While i was looking i came across multiple body parts (of all ages) that i did not want to see.I felt uncomfortable changing in front of everything there so i decided to go in a bathroom stall first. The first stall i went into had no lock. So i then proceeded to the next one.The next stall wasnt a good choice either because there also was no lock and then was feces smeared in and on the toilet. I tried to look past it by simply finding another location. I then decided to change in a nearby shower, big mistake. I open the shower curtain and saw water filled with dirt all over. I ignored it and proceeded to change. once i walked outside, we went to sit at a nearby table to eat soen snacks, only to be rudly interrupted by a screaming children talking about fetuses and male reproductive organs. We sat through the screaming, and finesged eating after being attacked by flies. When we reached the pool, we saw apon closer inspection that tge edges of the pool were a bright green from the mixture of the blue water, and the yellow urine left behind. The water murky, and i had observed various people spitting into the water. The we finally decided that this "waterpark" was not for us. On our journey out, we saw lots of garbage and rotting food. When i walked back into the locker room, i saw lots of roaches and waterbugs. We made our way to the deserted "teen center" and attempted to use the computer, which didn't work anyway. Definitely not worth the outrageous dees i pay for...
Read moreWas at this location today for my workout. The gym monitor thought I was doing individual training session. I explained that I wasn’t and he seemed to have understood after me explaining what I was doing and that I wasn’t telling other kids they couldn’t use the floor because I was there. We did talk and he seemed to have understood. I went on to explain that for the year and a half plus that I have been working out at this YMCA, for them to have had this rule supposedly already established, I sure have seen people, maybe dads or their trainer with son or daughter on and off training and I’ve had to move to another court or wait until a later time to use the courts. And today, there actually was someone over there training some kids. I’ll just sum this part up by saying I hope YMCA you are being equal and fair in regard to this personal training rule.
However, while in the gymnasium today, again, there were kids just throwing the basketballs across the court for no reason and also throwing them to hit each other. After explaining to them twice, why that’s not safe for anyone in the gymnasium and someone could get hit and/or hurt by doing so, they stopped. This goes on quite frequently by older kids as well as younger. It’s not comfortable for those kids and even adults that may be in the gym trying to get a workout themselves. God forbid someone get blind-sided because of the carelessness and negligence of someone else. Some kind of rules need to actually be enforced somehow so that everyone who uses the gymnasium is aware of them.
Finally, in the men’s locker room while showering there were several older kids playing and tossing the metal stools around and I happened to see a kid attempting to throw one over top of a section of lockers to the other side. I suggested to them not to do that and that someone could get hurt or they would...
