So I'm on TDY orders.. *Not from this installation so im not aware of the rules however common sense even tho im double vaxxed I need to wear a mask. So im in smiths mask on and im doing muscle ups/pull-ups and my mask starts to slide off.
I was then stopped mid work out and told by a heavyset darker skinned employee named Chris to put my mask up and there is a zero tolerance. I unaware and very understanding tell him okay explained that I'm not familiar with this installation rules and zip my make tighter and continue working out.
Chris then decideds to return in an unprofessional manner saying that I'm on camera with my mask of and I need to leave. I again explained it was my first time in this gym. I explained that it slide slightly of while doing muscle ups . He informed me that it was zero policy still and told me the door. I'm a very unprofessional manner, completely interrupting my workout. Smith gym is the most accessible gym on Fort Benning. Driving through the main gate, it'll take you about 4 minutes to scan in and start working out. Naturally, this means it's the busiest gym on the post. Be prepared to wait for some of the equipment and dodge through people.
Most of the main floor is dedicated to freeweights and resistance machines. Plenty of cable machines, dumbbells, and benches. Limited squat racks and barbells. They have more dumbbells than racks, so there's a great deal of double-stacking and the weights are rarely in the correct spots.
There's a rock climbing wall (availability is hit or miss), and a lap pool downstairs. Upstairs you'll find plenty of cardio machines and a room mostly filled with equipment for calisthenics (pull up bars, mats, glute hamstring isolators, etc).
The employees are friendly and keep the...
Read moreThis is the worst service. There is no room for us married/single postpartum soldiers who doesn't have someone to watch the kids for us to work out. There is no daycare after 5pm and this is the time I get off of work. You know what the manager of the post should do... If you can be considerate of having a separate room with equipment for us to work out, then in that same room have it divided low safe door meeting the height of an adult hips with open mats dojo with toys, and a tv for the children to play while the parents can work out and at the same time be able to view how our children are playing and entertaining themselves with other children. You want us to get back into shape amd maintain in the Army. Stop thinking only for single soldiers and couples who don't have children. Do something in this gym and the rest of the gyms on post. Also there female sauna has been out...
