We bought a 12 ft piece of wood there a couple months ago for $40 and we saw another piece today we were interested in. We looked at it and the son came up to us and we talked. He said some guy just told him to sell the new piece for over $100. It might be 10 ft tall. Suprised at the price we told him what we paid before and he said he would honor his dad's price. I still have the receipt. We waited a few hours and just went down there and they would not honor what they told us. I understand prices go up but if I tell someone I will honor a price I stick to it and then tell them in the future this is the new price. The dad just said no I can't do that and didn't even give us a new price. Very rude and very disappointed so I won't buy anything there again.
Update: After seeing their comment on my post it is very upsetting since their comment is rude and not even remotely helpful. On my FB page they called me a liar when I have the receipt to prove the purchase. My BOYFRIEND was not rude, but said "If they aren't going to honor the price they said then we don't need it and that is bad business." Which is true. When we bought the first piece we offered to pay more since that was a very low price but we were told it is extra wood and you all were trying to get rid of it. Before saying someone is rude you should look at yourself and how you treat people. And your good luck comment...thank you for your support and I wish you good...
Read moreI had a most unpleasant experience at Roden’s Produce in Rossville today. Evidently Earl’s son is running the place now. It’s a shame — he is running his dad’s place right into the ground. My family has shopped at Earl Roden Produce for decades — always a pleasant experience. Not today! The man was rude and belligerent. He objected to our gently touching his vegetables. I’m sorry, but if I can’t look at what I’m buying, I’m not buying. The man invited us to leave. No problem, I’ll never return. Anyone else had this experience? He was also rude to his employee, telling her in front of us that he didn’t need a lawyer. I thought something was up when we arrived. The man was watering plants near the entrance. He never acknowledged us or even tried to move the hose so we wouldn’t trip over it. I understand now that he really doesn’t want business. Maybe he resents having the business since he was expounding on how much he pays for his vegetables and how people ruin them. I think his father (who he called Jackass Roden several times) would be hurt and...
Read moreSeveral of my friends recommended this place. There are signs everywhere saying not to touch the produce. I may not be a chef, however I am a darn good cook. The tomatoes are all piled in baskets. I was so afraid to touch them. I felt like big brother was watching me the whole time. There was not a big selection. My main reason was to purchase tomatoes for a new receipe I wanted to try. When I got home, the bottom two were rotten. What is the point of buying fresh produce; if you are not allowed to touch the product. Plus a man was watering stuff. He did this the whole time I was there. I have never been to a produce stand where someone was watering stuff. This was a real concern. People could get hurt, a slip and fall is an issue This is not a smart business move. Based this experience, I will never go back!!!!!! I appreciate your reply. However, being able to hold/ touch any produce is...
