Just moved to the area and wanted to go see a movie. Went to the gentry cinema because it was only 10 minutes down the road. It was a small theater with very few seats and only two showings/rooms. Like most people I stopped at the dollar tree and got me two sodas for $2 for the movie before hand. When I got to the theater I paid for a large popcorn and a box of cookie dough candy but no drink. I then went inside and waited to enjoy the movie. About 5 mins in The old man running the concession stand who I'm assuming is also an owner comes in and starts yelling at me to leave the theater. He proceeded to tell me that no outside drinks are allowed and I have to leave. I was thrown off because everyone does this with drinks and candy at the movies (I only didn't pay for a drink though mind you). I asked him if I threw the two sodas out could I stay and he said yes. When the movie started a sign came up and let the audience know that they were being monitored by video camera at all times. Another sign came on the screen saying that if you broke a rule (Outside drinks and food, cell phone usage, feet on seats in front of you, kicking seats) you would be asked to leave. Well the whole movie the kid behind me kicked my seat. You didn't barge in and stop that kid from breaking a rule. So we'll done sir. You got me to through out my two $1 sodas. So I didn't buy a $3 drink and you treated me like a thug. Well you just lost the service of a guy that loves going to the movies. I hope you feel so foolish. Such a weird movie experience at a tiny theater with nasty popcorn and nasty butter. I'll never return. Shame on you to the old man with the pot belly...
Read moreSmall, but great! Went with my girlfriend and stepsister while we were in town visiting family. The staff were very friendly, and the place was amazingly clean. Movie ticket and concessions were very affordable. There were tons of movie-themed items decorating the walls, floors, doors, and bathrooms. The screening room itself was very cozy; the seating was very comfortable, and the place did not feel small for the size of the building. Overall, it had a great atmosphere and is a true hidden gem. I definitely recommend this place for a family day out or for just wanting to watch a movie on a lazy Sunday afternoon. Glad we found this place, and it was a great change of pace from the big over-priced theatres back home. If I could rate more than 5 stars I would because this place is a true 10 out of 10! Hope to visit again! Thank you Gentry Cinema for a great...
