El Escondido Mexican bar & grill — Restaurant in Checotah

The food is SO VERY good here. There are many different items that I'm not used to seeing on a Mexican menu, so I just picked an item & tried it & was very satisfied. It was a flavorful meaty dish (lunch #12 Alambre) with a combination of all of the meat (at the waiter's suggestion). There are several dishes with Alambre in it, I've tried a few & am never disappointed. I try something new each time I've been there now bc I didn't know what goodness I've missed out on for my whole life as my stomach thinks it is Mexican, lol. My family usually stays w more traditional dishes like enchiladas, chimichanga & burritos which they totally enjoy here. They prefer the flavorful fajita meat in their chimichangas. We always enjoy the food at Don Poncho's. I am happy to report they finally got their liquor license and they have a good Margarita on the Rocks with appropriate margarita salt. Which I cannot say for all restaurants in the area.

I had the Mexican Flag Enchiladas, which had good flavor with a little heat, that I much appreciated. So far I have not found that the Mexican restaurants in the area have much spice heat in their dishes, so to discover a dish with a little more heat...

Must have been a VERY bad evening for staff. 1st advised no liquor license; no margs, no cervesa. No problem, we (a party of 8) stayed & placed our orders. The 1st 4 were served. About 15-20 minutes later 3 more were served. I never received my order until we were ready to leave. So, meal was prepped for comp take out.
