Rollerland has been staple of the Choctaw community since I was a kid and I’m glad to see it still up and running for my kids to enjoy! We recently visited on a Sunday afternoon, there were a few birthday parties but it wasn’t too crowded. The snack bar was reasonably priced and the staff keeps the time moving with games and activities to break up the afternoon. It’s a great place to bring the family for a fun few hours, and to exhaust the kiddos! The new ownership seems to be doing a great job of keeping the nostalgia while also making upgrades to keep up with the times.
My only critiques are I think the staff on the rink could do a better job of addressing dangerous skaters, from adults who just want to go fast weaving in and out of inexperienced skaters to teens who think they can do tricks and no one will get hurt. I saw (and experienced) several close calls and even a few accidents that could have been avoided. It made my daughter nervous to skate too far from the wall because people were constantly speeding up closely behind and passing so close they sometimes brushed you. Because that’s mostly a problem of the patrons I still give this 5 stars, just would love to see some safety conversations for those who are being reckless. With the adult nights and weekend nights where teens usually hang out, Rollerland offers lots of opportunities for them to “show off their skills” without wobbly kids around. My other critique is probably just because I’m getting old but when the lights go out and the special lights are on and moving quickly around it’s a bit disorienting and made skating more difficult, especially on the back side where it was darker. I guess your 30s will do that to you! 😂
We will definitely be coming back more as our kids continue learning to skate and enjoy the fun of a rink. Keep up...
Read moreI have had one good experience here and two so/so experiences here. My daughter had her seventh birthday party here and for a birthday party, it was great. The kids had fun and I didn't have to clean up. But we have been here two other times and have left pretty disappointed. They are only open 2-4 on Sundays which of course overlaps with my four year old's nap time so he's grumpy. And they still charge you $8 for these two hours plus $3 for skates and then I paid $11 something for two of the walkers for my kids for just two hours of open time. I spent over $30 for two little kids to skate and over the two hours that they were open, they kept doing games that the little kids can't do so they were constantly getting kicked out for limbo or races or dodgeball and most of the time, there were only a handful of kids even playing these games. I read on their website that this time was kids open skate but it really isn't open skate nor is it geared towards little kids. One time, my four year old made it about half around the circle (he is slow and trying to learn) after one game ended before they started another game... I'm sure once my kids are tweens and know how to skate without a walker, this place will be a lot of fun but it's just not great for little kids to learn to skate and that's what I need. It is really disappointing because I live in the country and my daughter can't skate on our sloped driveway and she wants to learn to skate so badly.
Edit: I totally appreciate the less games on Sunday! Working parents can't do a 1-3 on a Thursday unfortunately. Honestly, I would love just an hour on Sunday before the regular hours for just the...
Read moreThe skates were so out of date and used that they didn't have a pair that could work and the strings were ripped apart and too short to tie so we ended up having to leave within 5 minutes of getting there and the doorman knew this and made no attempt even though the issue was their fault due to faulty dated equipment available and they made no effort to offer my 8$ back or do anything at all just said oh well while my child was left very disappointed and felt left out so we won't be returning and I was hoping it would be great but unfortunately it needs a lot of updates as well as a game plan for helping care for those people that have a horrible experience not just ignore and walk away....in response your doorman was very aware and explained to my son is autistic and we weren't sure and he said well if he wants to see inside we had to pay period so we did and got the skates and went straight back to him as I stated above and told them we needed to leave it wouldn't work out and he said bye I asked about my money and...
