River Ridge Living Center — Local services in City of Amsterdam

My father was there for less than six months before he passed. He was blind, dementia, and had lung cancer. His room had COLD WATER in his bathroom to which the nurses would sponge bath his private area there. He would cringe and scream out. Thats how I knew something was wrong as a nurse came in to change his SOAKED attends. I then went to the sink to try getting a warmer wash cloth, to my surprise, no hot water. Then, I saw molk that went spoiled and was chunky next to his bed on his table, rotten food left, his call light way off to where he could not reach it (again, blind...cant see good...). We pushed the call light ourselves (to inform them of my father being soiled in the beginning) no one came after a half hour. His clothes were missing in his closet, he had other individuals clothes in his closet. We made a complaint to the head nurse on the wing. She said she would take care of it. We went in to visit my Dad a few more times, and found it to be in the same condition. I called the State Board of Health who went in and did a check. Then she called me back with her findings. I would not send ANY of my loved ones to this nursing home. My father passed away in that hell hole. My mother visited him more frequently than myself and saw most times the nurses standing around at their desk. Patients that were surrounding that area, ignored. If one can afford it, get palliative care and hospice to come to the home to take care of your parents. I wouldn't even have given this a one star, but had to so I could...

This place doesn't deserve not one Star . My Husband was here for 20 days he came out of this place with out help from this Awful place he came in the first place for Help to get rehabilitation to walk Again and to be Honest I took him out , Because I feared for his life he was Very Malnutrition with so much Fluids retaining in his entire body with Gout not getting better seems like they never gave him his Gout medicine Plus he lost lots of blood he needed 4 pints Actually of Blood, Blood transfusion . I also seen the injustice of how they treat the people in this place . Its Bad very Bad If you love your family Don't let them come to this place it should be Closed down because My Daughters believe theses patients check in and they don't check out people Actually have died in this place . They don't care for there patients at all to be very Honest they lie to Professional Doctors on the phone . They are understaff to be honest they only care about Money I am thankful to God to have my husband Alive and walking at home better care with his entire family . This place is a Awful Place River Ridge they left my father in a wheel chair with Gout and problems Retaining water & he had a Staph infection in the blood , his legs were down in a wheel chair for hours . Waiting in a wheelchair more then 11 hours because his bed was not working correctly it some how was broken they couldn't fix the problem Sooner no one could have use there brain and elevate his legs with pillows no one cared that wasn't Nice or kind at all Un Professional of staff . Now they call my Mother to bother her from a Post that was Actually me on my mother's Email . This is so people can read and make good decisions before they put their love ones in this place .
