Possibly the busiest pizzeria around Amsterdam.
Been meaning to check out Riverside for awhile now, but every time I tried to call in their line was busy. Once again on a Friday night I attempted to place an order and was met with the same busy line, turns out, they are just that busy. After 10 subsequent calls (over 15 minutes), I finally got through, and placed my order.
Went with a single 8-slice pizza, the red sauce, and added on onions, banana peppers, ricotta cheese, cheddar cheese, mushrooms, and chicken. All together coming to a little over halfway to $29, that was a lot of toppings after all.
Was told 40 to 45 minutes, no problems there, and when I arrived I found the place to be bumping. The crew of three guys were more or less doing gymnastics in that kitchen with the work they had, they were super busy, enough so I could even detect how annoyed they were becoming at the phone ringing off the hook. But hey, that just shows you just how popular they are.
When I saw my pizza come out I was a little worried at how saucy it look during the cutting, but I figured that was just par for the course given the heft that pizza had. Back home my worries were abated as the slices held together and firmer than expected, holding their own without much support needed. My flavor combination of ingredients, surprised me with how awesome it turned out. The sour peppers cut the rich cheesiness of the cheddar, the ricotta added a lovely burst of texture, the chicken was evenly distributed, the onions were crispy and well baked as to not leave ogre breath, and the mushrooms added an extra texture to keep things fun along with the ricotta. This was amazing!
I was only able to make it through 4 slices before I topped off, but even the next day, after a night of refrigeration, this pizza is still so good! Nothing like a lovely slice of cold pizza for breakfast.
Totally recommend anyone who wants a real pizza, and not the processed cookie-cutter stuff they dish out at chains. This is...
Read moreWell, here's the thing. It's not their pizza that sucks; it's their service/help. Utterly lousy and grade school level. They constantly take their phone off of the hook so they can play 'catch up' with current orders and then when caught up, place it back on the hook. I've suspected this for a long time, as have many other potential customers I've spoken with, but tonight I caught them doing it red-handed, purposely going down there so as to catch them off guard...lol... Forget that lousy service; too many other options in this city! I called Goodfella's, only to be told my pizza would be ready in 30 minutes, and I am, right now, eating a delicious, cheese & sausage drenched 12-cut square from Goodfella's for a buck or two LESS! I've ordered from Goodfella's several time in the past, but now I will be a permanent customer. Their pizza is very, very good, and their service in right on. See...
