Purchased GroupGolfer certificates for our round today because we heard a number of good things about Tuscumbia. Traveling from Green Bay to play, we're glad we paid only $25.00 for 18 holes with cart. The good stuff: The staff. Check in was easy in the bar. The young lady that helped us was very nice, and seeing as we had not been there before, she made sure we knew where to go and what to do. The beverage cart servers were very nice and regularly available throughout our round. The facilities are really nice although it appears a number of areas are going unused. It's dated, but clean and tidy. Carts were clean. The course: If you don't hit it straight, you better practice your punch-out shots; you're gonna need 'em. Trees line virtually every fairway, and being the oldest course in Wisconsin, they've grown over the fairways quite a bit creating some pretty narrow places to drive the ball. Trees come into play on 2nd and 3rd shots from the fairway on some holes too. It's a reasonably challenging course particularly for the shorter hitter; be sure to play from the appropriate tees (we played the white tees, I should have moved up to the gold tees, I hit driver 200-220 yards). There are some blind shots but the vast majority of holes are straight so that's generally not difficult to navigate. Punching out from the trees along the fairways is not difficult (trees are widely spaced), but know your distances with these shots so you don't end up in the trees on the other side of your fairway. Greens are fair and usually sloped toward the fairways, and generously sized. The conditions today: Tees were a bit beat up and not mowed as you would expect. Fairways are in good shape although a bit on the long side. The bunkers could use some TLC; ragged edges, poor sand conditions, and no rakes. We could deal with these things, but the greens were another matter entirely. Sadly they have significant winter kill with large patches of no grass at all. Where there is grass on the greens, it was mowed fairly long, so they were very slow. We opted for a max 2-putt when these patches came into play, which was often. I should mention that a good amount of rain fell the day before our round, so it may have been too wet to mow the course on this Saturday morning. It was a long drive and a long day to play a course with subpar conditions. As I said, we're glad we paid only $25.00 for 18 holes with cart. We're not sure we would go back, it would take more recent reviews indicating better conditions and another deal like...
Read moreIf you are looking to have a wedding - look HERE! Beautiful views, incredible venue, delicious food and amazing staff and ambiance. Our wedding reception was so elegant and so fun. HUGE shoutout to Anna and all the staff at 680 North that made our wedding reception the best night EVER! Anna coordinated all the decorating (we dropped off stuff and she placed the decorations), she helped design the custom menus, etc. When we first entered she and her staff greeted us with champagne, Michael their piano player was playing on the baby grand, and we had delicious appetizers. Our dinner was perfect, we sat with our backs to the beautiful fireplace and ate the most amazing prime rib and potatoes. After we finished dinner someone in our group started a conga line and the staff joined and people in the restaurant greeted us as we went around. What a phenomenal experience, I could not ask for a better day and evening. Thank you Anna and everyone at 680 North for going up and beyond for us to make this day...
Read moreHackers paradise. There is probably enough room here for 12 holes but they have 18 plus a par 3 course. They accomplish this with super narrow fairways with overgrown trees on every side. There are fairways you have about a 30 foot radius to hit if you want to have a chance at an approach shot. The greens are so soft that the at least 6 times my ball impacted into the divot on the green like a meteor cratering into the earth, no roll at all. Green had lots of damage, and huge destroyed sections. Half the ball washers were dry and the others had what seemed like pond water in them. No towels on any. The rough to the sides of the fairways were the same quality as a typical city park, like hitting from a farm field. Took 5 hours to play 18 in carts, waited 5 minutes for every shot. No course management or pace of play. If you shoot under 100, you might be one of the better players on...
