Wow, I left completely baffled at the treatment my husband and I received at this place.
I guess I will start from the beginning. My husband and I went to L & M lanes on Saturday 2/23/2013 (To watch the Syracuse Game) this was our second time there. The first time we went (On Thursday 2/21/2013) we met the owner, he was a great guy. We really enjoy good our beers and he talked to us about how he wanted to add more taps, and even let us taste a few. He seemed like a great guy. We also ordered the Veggie Burger, and an order of fries (and the food was pretty good too). We enjoyed our time there so much that we decided we wanted to go back- as we live right in the neighborhood on Culver Rd.
-Second time back was the most horifify experience that I have ever encountered IN MY LIFE. I almost felt like I wasn’t safe at some points.
First when we walked in a heavy set man at the bar with red hair was watching TV (The pre season red sox game) on the larger TV closest to the door. We asked him if he could turn the TV to the Syracuse game, as it was starting when we walked in. This is where the whole evening started to go down hill...
He said or should I say mumbled "Ughh we only have the Syracuse game on the other TV down there at the other end of the bar, this one is for Baseball and I have been watching the game" We asked "Do you think we can watch it on this TV as its larger?" He said "Ughhh fine, I guess so." WOW I have never been to a restaurant where the guy behind the bar was more concerned with his TV show then the customers. He was almost pouting. BUT IT GETS WORSE...
After deciding to stay after this awkward/unwelcoming moment, we ordered two beers ( Captain Lawrence IPA) The beers a couple days before the owner let us try.
-Then as we sat there, there was another heavy set guy sitting at the bar who claimed to be an owner... The two of them were talking about having to pepper spray someone the other night (Very odd) But...We ordered another round of beer, after we got the bar tenders attention from the other end of the bar (where he was glued on the TV-with his baseball game) and asked the bartender(With red hair) if he could turn the volume up on the TV so we could hear the game, He said in an annoyed tone " No its a copy right infringement and I’m not turning it on besides were going to listen to the juke box"
He then preceded to use his phone to play rap music (Isn’t that a copy right infringement?) and the heavy man who claimed to be an owner said "Hey I thought we couldn’t play music on our phones, only the jut box) and the guy behind the bar said "Yeah only I can play music on my phone" I won’t even mention how the music he was playing was offensive rap music
At this point we were just trying to drink our beers as fast as possible to get out of there- (While this was all happening my husband and I were talking at the bar about how we couldn’t believe how bad the service is) - So the heavy guy sitting at the bar then yelled over to us (out of nowhere and very random)
He said "I have been listening to you two the whole time complain" That’s when we asked if he was an owner and he said "Yes" and then preceded to say "But I’m not behind the bar today so I don’t care what goes on here"... We said to him, "This is the worst experience ever and we want to leave" He said "I don’t care, and leave, it doesn’t matter to me" Now we really wanted to get out of there- These were large men and they were starting to intimidate us- So we asked for our card back, and the guy behind the bar ignored us, and wouldn’t give it back until my husband said he was going to call 911 if they didn’t give us our card back... Finally he did, and we left in awwwwww. We went to Tap and Mallet after and WILL NEVER RETURN, AND WE WILL MAKE SURE WE TELL EVERYONE ABOUT OUR EXPERIENCE.
It’s sad because we went back because we liked it the first time, and the owner the first time was so great- I hope he realize what these guys are doing when he’s not around. What...
Read moreA day in the life at L&M Lanes.
Today (12/02/14) when I came into L&M Lanes, one of the owners indicated that he had to repair 2 monitors which went blank, at a cost of $600. Apparently, this occurred after we played, two weeks prior. One of my players, confirmed that two monitor did indeed go blank and that she thought they shut them off from down stairs. He then went on to accuse me of breaking the monitors by hitting them with my hand. He went on to tell me that he had video of me performing this act and that the women who collected the scores told him, by name, that I broke them. When I asked who the women was, he indicated that she hadn't come in yet. There was one woman from my team who had not come in yet, however she is not the one who collects scores. He then indicated that lanes 9&10, the lane I played on, were the lanes where the monitors broke. Later that night, I showed him the score card from the last time I was there, which clearly indicated that I was playing on lanes 7&8 and not 9&10. When I showed him this he indicted, it was all good. I then indicated that it was important that he believe me that I didn't break his monitors. He then indicated that he didn't believe me. I told everyone on the team what happen. I had all the women come downstairs and asked him if he could pick out the one who indicated that I broke the monitors. He then indicated that he didn't know who it was, as it was two weeks ago, yet, previously that night he was sure that the women who collected that scores, who named me as the perpetrator, had not comes in yet? Later that evening, the main TV in the bar went blank. The technician indicated that he felt the place was cursed. Then two of our lanes broke down, which was the first time it happen since our season began a few months ago. He indicated his technician told him that someone hit the back of the monitors with their hands. He even stated that his technician showed him where it was broken. It's not clear if this guy is simply out for me, doesn't want our team to play there anymore or is having a hard time believing that the person who services his equipment is trying to pass the buck on a faulty monitor / installation? I did tell him that if he could show me the video or any kind of proof that I broke his monitors, not only would I pay for their repair, but I would apologize as well. Of course the night would not be complete, without a low pressure tire indicator on...
Read moreThe customer service is awful. The bartenders (owners) are constantly complaining about what they don't have, how their brother won't let them turn up the heat, etc and have no concern for the customer experience whatsoever. The prices are absolutely absurd for their "premium" beers. Expect to pay well over $20 a pitcher of beer if you order anything other than Genny. The pizza is incontinent and SLOW to be made, judging by the quality, I seriously wonder if they don't run to the corner store, grab a frozen pizza and throw a little extra cheese on it to make it pass as a restaurant made dish. It's awful. Please don't inconvenience them by asking for an itemized bill, apparently raising a finger for an additional 5 seconds expends too much energy for them as it seems to be a very tough task which they will let you know isn't needed. I guess if my bill was less than $80 any time I get pizza and beer for 3 people, I might not be quite so suspect. It's a shame these guys will run a cool community spot out of business, but hopefully the next owners can handle the business aspect...
