This company's website uses Dutchie for pre-pay/to connect to your bank, which I've used before, as well as similar platforms at several dispensaries many times. I selected pay now and connected to my bank. Got a confirmation email from Dutchie with the amount and a "Your order's ready for pickup" email from Electric City. When I got there to pick up, they said the order hasn't gone through or something.... amounting to that I had to pay them then. However, when I expressed confusion over this as I'd used the online "pay now" system, the girl at the register had initially asked the floor manager about it and he'd said I needed to show them the payment processing in my bank account or "the email." I looked at my bank account and told the girl there was no payment showing there, but this didn't mean anything - it can sometimes take 2-3 days. I showed her the confirmation email from Dutchie with the order amount. She wasn't satisfied and said if the payment wasn't in my bank display it hadn't gone through. I said this is what the guy had said to show them, I wasn't sure what else she wanted to see, and repeated that charges don't always show up on my bank statement within a day, even as pending. I meant just what I said, and I don't think I was rude, nor was I trying to be difficult. I was genuinely confused because as far as I could tell, I'd literally done what the guy had asked. She went to get the floor manager who took his sweet time chatting with two other customers on his way back to the register, where other employees and customers were now milling about trying to work around me. I then had basically the same conversation about the bank and showed him the email. No, not that email, he said, I would have gotten one from Electric City. I had, and showed him that one too. No, not that email, he said. You have to scan the QR code. As if I should know what that meant, as there was no QR code in either email. He brings one up on the card reader. Scan that to pay, he basically says. So I'm trying to understand what happened and what I did on the website if not pay, when I connected to Dutchie and my bank account (so I could do it the right way next time). And the guy just keeps contradicting himself. Very sus. So before I finalized payment I asked what happens if both charges come through tomorrow. He doesn't say they won't because I hadn't put a charge through the day before, as he's been trying to claim. He doesn't say they'll refund me. No. He says, "Well I don't like to live my life in what ifs." Good for you, chief. You know what? I've worked in customer service. I don't believe that the customer is always right. I DO believe that treating people with a modicum of common decency and respect is fundamental. Snarking at and trying to make a customer feel stupid because either YOU'RE too stupid to explain something in terms that make any sense whatsoever or you're scamming the customer, is NOT any way to run a business. So I walked out and had to buy what I needed elsewhere.
UPDATE: A woman named Alice called from Electric City to apologize for my experience and offer me a discount. I did not feel to me like a very customer-focused or genuine apology, as she repeatedly interrupted me, implied that I was rude as well, and danced around admitting that Joe had been wrong to treat me the way he did. She also denied that they have other negative reviews that mention lack of professionalism and poor customer service, which they do. However, I do appreciate that they care enough about customer service to make this effort, as not all companies would. She pointed out that this experience is not the sum total of what their company is about, and that no one's perfect; all of which I absolutely agree with. This dispensary may well offer a very positive experience most of the time. They have a good selection and good prices. They are in a location where there's a need. I'm not saying they're all bad by any means. I'm simply sharing...
Read moreAbsolutely incredible group of people over here. I walked in 1 minute after they opened and I was given a warm welcome and a smile both during the ID check and when I walked into the actual shop. To top it off, i got a tour of the whole place. I've walked into shops that have been open for hours and never gotten anything close to that sort of hello. Most don't even want to deal with you first thing in the morning (not that I blame them.)
Speaking of other shops, I've been to Amsterdam Canna (the closest to me) and Upstate Canna Co (the furthest) so I've been around. Not only were they the only shop to give a warm welcome; they were also the only shop that I didn't have to drive to twice. At the other two, they "forgot" an item so I had to drive back. Whether it was a mistake or not, I won't speculate. These guys showed you your order, talked to you about what you got, and double checked that they had everything.
Now to talk about pricing. They were very fair on pricing, and the quality is up to par, too. For a Magnitude cart, these guys charge $39. In Amsterdam, they charge $45. A Packwoods in Amsterdam is $45 whereas they're $40 at Electric City. At Upstate Canna, they charge $90 for a 1g brass knuckles cart. These guys are between $70 and $90 depending on the potency, which is fair. Sheena did an incredible job at making me feel welcome. Theyre passionate about what they do. That much was evident in the way that they acted and their knowledge of each product. I'll definitely...
