Champion's Auto Ferry — Local services in Clay Township

I have now been full time resident of the Island going on 4 years. I CAN NOT SPEAK HIGHLY ENOUGH OF THE CAPTAINS AND DECKHANDS! Incredible folks! As a company, definitely seen a massive improvement in service! Rarely have long wait or back ups. The more I get to know the employees, the more I appreciate how involved their jobs are and the behind the scenes operations gives me great deal of respect for them all and how much safer you feel the more you! They make it look super low key and easy goes it vibe… but knowing their training and education for their positions is very impressive! Not to mention.. one of my favorite secret photo ops spot...

This is always the beginning to a great Harsens Island adventure! However the fee of $15 has become too pricy, especially rid8ng on the ferry which badly needs painting. We really are discouraged at their tired looking equipment and dock area. Too much junk and old equipment sitting around...quite surprised the island homeowners don't complain since this is the front porch of their homes. Both sides coming and going are a mess. Leaving this on a high note the staff during the 2022 season were amazing, friendly...

If I wasn't stuck riding it to get to my cottage, I wouldn't ride it! Their prices are high, most of the staff is rude. They do not care about you vehicle and any damage that may occur. I have seen countless time people pulling trailers nearly rip the bumper off because of the lack of clearance. The people loading know this is an issue. However, they do not warn the driver when they see a vehicle that this might be an issue for. They do have signs posted, but do nothing to assist...
